i eat white rice most of the time and i think its fine. Probably get the Basmati rice if your worried about the GI content and it also tastes better =P~ :)

And its also very cheap source of carbs.

i assume few ppl on here eat white rice as well.

Yeah a lot easier to do half and half than to transfer straight to brown rice

brown rice is only a few points above white on the GI scale anyways.

so if you like white, eat it

im back to white now after finding this out

GI doesn't mean shit unless you're just eating the rice by itself anyway. Once you add meat and veges, fats etc they bring it right down.

Lol, not sure if serious..

instead of just fucken "lol-ing" say what you think is best you 150lb little homo.

white rice is fine i eat it post workout all the time and even during the day on ocasion. my statement wasnt explained so ill explain it now. if i were fat and trying to lose weight i would definitly be eating brown rice. white and brown rice are really just the same as far as protein, carbs and calories per serve are concerned and the only reasl differences is processing and nutritional content. so for someone whos training and diet is ok and they have some idea of what foods they are eating then white rice is fine. brown rice contains more vitamins and dietary minerals which white rice loses during processing. brown rice also contains the bran oil which is lost from the rice when they produce white rice (rice bran oil) which is spose to be good for lowering bad cholesterol levels, these are some of the reasons i would be inclined to eat brown rice if i was fat. but hey its just fucking rice if thats your only nutrition worry then your doing pretty damn good imo lol

Well if you want to get anal about it like that then yes i suspose, but lettuce be cereal it will have no difference on body comp weather you are trying to lose bodyfat. The reason i "lold" was because i thought you where refering to not eat white rice as you thought it was a simple carb etc, and will have an effect on losing bodyfat as most idiots do.

Basically OP brown and white rice are exctally the same, eat whatever tastes bezst, its just different nutrients.

For those that may be interested in this topic further, and seeing as I've since made it a new hobby of mine to study nutrition, I've found out what the biggest plus is regarding brown over white rice.

It seems that the main problem is that white rice's processing speeds up its ability to enter our blood and thus causes quicker insulin spike + more insulin required (aka high G.I.) Brown rice retains a lot more natural fibre which slows digestion and actually inhibits it partially.

It's not simply a matter of a quick hit over a long sustained energy boost however. It appears that high carb diet with low fibre are one of the leading causes of insulin resitance, decreased insulin sensitivity and potentially type 2 diabetes. (Exercising helps insulin sensitivity a lot so not too bad for bodybuilder types).

Thing that surprised me was how much I had been depending on a diet which had well documented risks of insulin resistance, aka poor man's bulking diet. I guess it's worth thinking about, and probably switching back to that less exciting brown rice + worth remembering to include fruit and veg in the bulking diet.

food for thought, or for eating.

There's some good info on this thread, especially when Alan Aragon comes in and educates a noob on brown vs white rice.

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthrea ... =112341641

Another by Alan Aragon on GI -

http://www.alanaragon.com/elements-chal ... index.html

Assuming you're like most bodybuilders you'll be getting enough fibre from your oats and veges. Brown rice is relatively low in fibre when compared to oats anyway, so you'd need a shitload to supply most of your daily fibre needs.

IMO - Eat your white rice if you like it. Another reason may be the conclusion of one of the studies listed in the above thread - "we concluded that brown rice reduced protein digestibility and nitrogen balance." Interesting.

If you're still worried about GI after reading the above, just have Basmati rice, it's almost the same GI as brown rice. The best of both worlds.
