Useful supplements / waste of money?

Recommended Posts

Hi, assuming my training and rest of nutrition is good,

I was planning on getting :-

Alacen 450 20kg whey

B-Alanine

Creatine Mono

multi-vitamin

and maaaybe:-

AAKG

Glutamine( do I need it? )

I've been trying to gain weight for 7 months and only gained a max of 2kg including fat, my training was good in terms of intensity etc but didn't use any supplements at all. Nutrition was good too, lots of chicken, eggs and heaps of rice but very minimum veges :( hence why multivitamin.

Advise pls ? :) :)

agreed, what are your stats? age height weight and bodyfat etc??

with good diet and training being a newbie, you should be able to get at least 3kgs muscle and 2kg fat in 7 months if bulking...

or maybe you just lost a few kgs of fat in that time and have replaced it with muscle??

need to elaborate on whether you lost fat during that time and on your diet and training regime please

If you have your diet and training spot on, and as said above that is questionable, then that would be a good bunch of supps to buy. just ignore all the expensive hyped up supps. ( well most anyway.)

21 yrs. started training at 18 and did 2 years of poor training but lost lots of weight came down from 85kg to 70 mainly focussed on lowering bf levels.

My diet =

Wake up around 9 - 10am and staple breakfast - 70g oats in 200ml milk + 40g whey in 200ml milk + jam/honey

staple carbs - basmati rice, big servings, enough to make me let that good satisfied burp.

While at Uni i usually have 2 meals- 1st meal: rice + 1 can of 85g tuna.

2nd meal: rice + 1 can of 85g tuna (sealord smoked flavour..yumm + most protein/100g)

Get home around 5, 1 honey on toast then nap for half hour. Wake up walk 10mins to gym.

Workout routine:

Monday : Legs( Squats till I die, leg press and 5mins of calf raise)

Tuesday: Chest(bench, db bench, incline) + Maybe triceps same day OR

Wednesday: Usually rest OR triceps

Thursday: Back( pull ups to start with, bent over row, deadlift, seated row, stiff legged dead) + Maybe biceps same day OR

Friday: Usually rest OR Biceps

Saturday: Shoulders

Sunday: Definitely rest no matter what..

Walk back home to have PWO, 40g whey in milk.

Dinner Rice and heaps of chicken/fish/ whatever meat at home + peanuts love peanuts.

Bed

P.S only thing to note is i only recently(3 weeks) mastered proper technique to squat and OMG my quads are getting bigger!

Thats one long post!

thanks man I would really like to find the root of problem. trust me training is good. Just got back from gym and still sore from yesterdays leg day.

Its either not enough food/ or I eat good food but right before bed hence increase in fat. Or I serously don't know!!

If your training hard, and your not getting bigger then you need to eat more, boil like 3-4 eggs up in morning and take them to uni to have with your rice n tuna, as well as one in the morning. Also add a banana or 2 to eat with your post workout shake, extra nutrients for your muscles when they need them the most. Getting healthy fats from eggs avocados etc, good for male hormone levels that assist with muscle growth.

In terms of supplements you can get creatine - but get simple stuff creatine mono, always works.

bcaa's can help with muscle fatigue/repair, so your body don't ache as much.

a multivitamin could also be good

some people swear by glutamine, some dont, try it and see if it works for you.
