Benefits of breaking from High-cal??

I've heard a lot about taking a break from a cal deficit to bust through a weight-loss plateau, and there's plenty of info about cheat meals, free days, refeeds and diet breaks. So what I'm wondering is...can the inverse be applied to bulking??

Not that I've hit a plateau. Just that when I went from several months of deficit to calorie excess, it seemed my body very quickly soaked up everything I gave it (not surprisingly  ). What I'm thinking of is dropping cals and carbs back to mainenance levels (or maybe lower) for a week, and then returning to caloric excess. The idea being that after that week, the muscled should be ready to suck everything straight up and get a bit more out of the excess. Does anyone have any experience/info/ opinion on whether this is likely to work, or is it more likely to just be a wasted week?

Sounds reasonable, in the scheme of things (lifetime) a week is nothing to try something different.

When you come back from the week, perhaps add in another meal...you said you've grown and soaked up alot of food so it must be time to increase you food intake again?...it's never ending. It could just be you are the size you are for the amount of food you are now ingesting.

So give the week a go, the body needs change else it finds it's 'sweet spot' and stays there. Post up the results too afterwards if you could

a friend of mine did a cycle following lee haywards plan of 2 weeks high and 1 week low cal, and it worked amzing for him, gained 2 kilos after one cycle.

most bodybuilders say the best gains they get is after there pre contest diet when they start the bulk again, the body soaks up everything you throw at it for the first 2 weeks, after that you start gaining fat, which is why you drop your calories in the 3rd week.

i would definitley reccomend giving it a go, i definitley am :D

good luck
