went here today and i wont be back

right so where to start......

walk in... no hello from recption or g'day or anything.... onto the change room(s) which are just 2 large disable toilets with a shower pretty much. no ventilation and toilet comes complete with some one elses shit in it and piss all on the floor with toilet paper.

onto a warm up.... that is, if your able to get on a free treadmill or the 1 rowing machine or 1 of 3 spin bikes??

quick look at the 'new' isolation machines.... 2 were 'out of order'.

difficult to change the 'pad positions' on a few of them. ie their not simple and useable.

onto the free weights area.... grab a bench if you can!! there is only 3 and 2 set up for benching. i used the smithmachine as that was only 1 free. for starters its not parallel to the wall so makes setting your bench a bitch. their is not enough plates in the gym... must be like 6x20kg,4x5kg,4x10kg and a few others about im sure (if you can find them... or take them off someone else using it)

benching on that felt shaky as the smith wasnt correctly set up? shakes a bit side to side

some db flys now which i had to swtch benches for as not enough room by me. everything is packed in that close!!!

so i managed a few sets of flys in between people pushing past and knocking my arms...

onto some preacher curls and cable cross which luckliy were free!

pretty much fucked off by this point and went for a bash around on the treadmill and only rowing machine

yes all the equipment is new, but way too many people in the tiny area!!!!! not enough equipment, bugger all airflow.

oh! room to stretch! for only 3-4 people at a time tho

no clocks provided

no squat rack

no decline benches

not impressed at all

its open 24hrs... so maybe best to go at 3-4am if you actually want to achieve more than f*ck all

Im a regular at the papanui snap.

Haven't been to bush inn yet, and i don't think i will ever.

Just thinking about all the uni students who have no gym going there

simply puts me off haha.

Also, don't bother going to the hornby snap either, its crap.

Papanui is the best one for snap.

I attend Snap Fitness Bush Inn and I think it's great!!! Looking at that first comment im not surpised you feel that way as the gym is not meant to impress the body building demographic, maybe thats the reason they keep the free weights littler then big gyms and have less mirrors to keep posers out its less intimidating for sure. I also use jenny craig above them they are getting a lot of their cliental and the last thing they want to see is big boys throwing weights about moaning like its their first time. Maybe you just walked in at the wrong time as everytime I've gone in there has a been a nice young man who says hello. Not every gym suits every person and while everyone is entitled to their own opinion it looks like the gym is busy so they must be doing something right. I personally dont like the show ponies at Les Mills or City Fitness but I dont go bad mouthing them. Bush Inn gives you what you pay for which is great I love it and am looking forward to checking out the other snaps that are around town.

LOL Snap representative?

You make it sound like attempting something difficult is a crime! Are people allowed to break a sweat at snap? or is that not allowed.

Cant wait to join up and just do lunges through all the rooms counting out loud circuits of 50 and yelling at my legs to grow.

We gon get along jus fine FunFit :pfft:

Cheers for the review mike, I had considered snap for my next gym.

Sounds pretty average, its not a big place but perhaps a few more basic pieces of equipment would be nice. Whats the price like?

not totally sure on price. i think its around 9 bucks per week

so reasonalby cheap. but then if you look at whats provided.... its a rip off!

Funfit....

i understand what your saying..... but its just not good at snap bush inn. its not just 1 or 2 things that arent right. i quess if your a house wife and only for to the gym for a 22min walk on the tready at 4.5km phr then snap would be great!

only reason they are busy is a load of gyms in chch are out from the quake. Once things settle down again and gyms get back up and running it'll be great!

intimidated by the so called 'big boys' or 'show ponies'?? hardly... people go to the gym to get results! some at very oppisited ends of the scale. some just starting out, and some have been doing it for years and its their life. each to their own.

snap would of been far better in losing half the weights machines and increasing the free weights area.

they've tryed to put too much in a little space.

yes it is all new,new carpet, paint etc etc. but id far sooner have space and areas to do my exercises. and a few more benches.

add a few clocks too! and some fans or a/c.

LOL no im not a snap rep my friend was on this site and told me about it so wanted to get in and share my view as I believe it deserves some credit.

If they took out some of the machine weights for more free weights then you'd get complants there isnt enough machine weights. I just think the gym suits everyone except body builders or power lifters etc which is good thing as even tho you do the whole people just want results thing intimidation is a massive deal to everyone else.

Haha people are still "intimidated by BBers and PLers?

They couldn't give 2 shits about other people working out unless they were critiquing their form and helping them out. I have NEVER, to this day, met a BBer that bullied anyone in the gym, same goes for PLers. I've had them assist my form and had friendly chats with me and I've worked out around the likes of Justin, one of the baddest motherfuckers around but one of the humblest. Stop being a ignorant bitch thinking we're posers, the only ones that are posers are the ones that go to the gym to achieve nothing yet walk around in their Nike crop tops or their baggy denim shorts thinking they're the shizz. I don't do this often but today you get a big LOL from me

exactly, BB's and PL's are probably the nicest people you would come across in a gym.

As for snap, it sucks that the DB's only go up to 45kg :(

Agree with this too. I've also worked out alongside Justin several times (though he wouldn't know me from a bar of soap  ) and although he is most definitely the biggest muscliest guy I've ever seen in person, and I'm just a wannabe with teeny tiny bees knees biceps etc, I've never felt intimidated by him or people like him - in fact, he's very friendly and says hi and smiles. Not all BBers are as friendly, he's just an example, but the point is that it's not that bodybuilders are intimidating, it's that people think they are and choose to be intimidated by them.
