i thought rack pulls where just partial deadlifts i never do partial anything maybe its my missing link

wouldn't rack pulls be more for thickness and more middle back and trap then lats? i have always done chins and all the chin variations ,pulldowns and barbell and dumbell rows but if it works then cant argue with that might try a few for a change in my next workout :D

I thought the same thing until I tried them. They are their own exercise mate. And I was surprised at how my lats felt afterwards too. Nice and pumped. Give it a go and let us know how you go

i like rack pulls, i have them on back day.

just cut out the legs part of a deadlift by setting the bar.

around or just below or above ur knees

i normally just tap the bb on the rack and pull up again and try not to rest it. then at the end i do a few forced reps 1 or 2 at a time resting the bb on the rack for a few seconds to re-grip.

allows you to do some heavy work but safely

Their is no real muscle articulation with Rack Pulls though is there? (Never done them). If you aren't using the muscle through a ROM then is it that effective? Should I unrack the bar on Bench Press and just hold it above me for 30secs to build my chest?

Not saying it is wrong just curious if anyone can debate what I said.

PLers don't work their chest through a full ROM when they bench due to their arches. Every rule has an exception here and there Jigga

I like rack pulls they take out part of the dead where your legs and glutes play a big part in getting the weight off the floor I do think they incorporate some traps if done from higher than mid knee which I actually do on purpose sometimes as a heavy heavy trap exercise (250kg -340kg)Good thread lads Im going to focus on this contraction lighter weight more control idea next week !!
