secondary income tax is total bullshit too. the more motivated and harder you work the more you are penalised, the lazier you are and less you do you are given more.

yeah i that is one thing that fucken pisses me off

if your on a good wage you get taxed big time

baastards!

Whether you have 1 job, or 10, the tax is the same on every dollar. Your taxed at your marginal rate. There is no such thing as secondary tax. Hasnt been since the 80s

LOL. Incorrect.

It would be okay if you had a trade of some sort, who said anything about paying tax!! how long do you think you can last this time?? :pfft:

if you had a trade ud make more money doing that fulltime, firefighters dont earn very much, i applied a few years ago then found out income wasnt very good.... its not really like police or military where you can apply your skill to jobs afterwards and earn big money either.

cruisey life though, 4 on 4 off is mint.

I agree re: secondary jobs, hence my comments about the overtime, which is paid at double time rates, so the money works out okay. I guess, it relative what each person considers good money, though...

A lot of guys are tradeys in the job and have their own business, which also works out well for them.

I have a degree to fall back on, so not worried about transferable skills too much, but I don't agree with tomsammce that you can't apply the skills to any other job... There is great money to be made these days in fire safety consulting, for example.

And yeah, great lifestyle for training, travelling, studying, hobbies etc.

Yeah with all the safety and compliance regulations ex fireys can make huge coin!

Looks like we will never run out of PTs or IT workers! What happened to doing a trade? Note to any young guys starting out. Go get a trade. I dont know any one with a trade earning under 75k.

Andy.

Most clients we deal with would be exceptionally lucky to hit anywhere near 75K. That statement is complete crap..

Are you a recruitment agent? I dont know any builders, fitters, plumbers or diesel mech's etc earning under 75k. Im seeing more and more braking 100K.

If you want to go mining in OZ there were jobs on seek three weeks back offering up to 140k. If a guy is confident in his abilities and can prove himself on the tools, he will get paid good money.

p.s. the good tradesman usually don't need to go through agents. They get poached.

Andy.

From the IRD website:

Secondary tax codes

If you have more than one job, you need to work out which job gives you the highest income. This job is your main job. For all other jobs, you should generally use a secondary tax code, which means secondary tax will be deducted from that income.

If you have a part-time job and are also receiving an income-tested benefit, you need to use a secondary tax code for your part-time job.

You are both right. End of year tax filing means you will end up getting a rebate on alot of the secondary tax you had paid. So in reality you end up paying the same amount of tax on 1 job earning $60k as you do working 2 @ $30k each

Staff Recruitment Manager 2200pm - 0600am (Varied role) But I dont need to remain on site, so basically I turn up and make sure everyone shows up for work and bring in people on call should some staff pull sickies or have legitimate reasons why they cannot come into work. As Nate stated in his post kinda got a job that revolved around freeing things up for training times during the day. So I like these hours. On top of that I do Part time PTing straight after work in the mornings with a couple of clients, then I sleep the day away...

Ahem. Playground, or naughty step? Your choice, guys. :naughty:

My job? I'm like Super-Nanny to a bunch of testosterone-charged overgrown toddlers. :P

Although by day I'm a mild-mannered advertising copywriter. And if anyone knows of an agency with such a vacancy, please drop me a PM.
