Hi to all on this awesome site! :)

I just joined this site as I am training for my fist ever comp! (NABBA South Island champs in Dunedin in September). Gonna search for all the info I can find on contest prep, cutting up, bikinis, routines, posing etc as it is all quite new to me!

I am a fire fighter so already reasonably fit but have a long way to go to get into shape for the comp! A bit nervous and very excited, it´s great to have a goal to train for after years of just doing ¨mainenance¨ workouts.

Feel free to hit me with any advice, looking forward to it.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard, good to see another Southerner here. I assume from your other post that you're training out at Olympic?

No actually, Ronin, I'm training with Glenn but do the majority of my own work at the station gym during work hours! Gotta love the job! :pfft:

good on you!!!!

well whats ya stats? eg. height weight etc etc

were ever your mind goes your body will follow :)

I'm 170 cm tall and 64 kgs at the mo. Dont' have all my other stats on hand (i.e.measurements) but as I tested at a whopping 22% body fat, my main goal for the comp will be cutting up. :disgusted:

22% is lean for a lady :)

Thanks becbec, I feel a bit better now! :D

My trainer told me he would liek me to be between 16-18% leading up to dieting, then have to drop down to between 11-13% for comp! And then someone else told me that some figure girls go as low as 9-10%... Bloody hell, that scares me. :shifty:

Hi and welcome :)

leaning out for a comp is a weird, tough and exciting experience for the first time lol 22% is a good place to start.. I started at 32% last year and got to about 10% .. Ask lots of questions and listen to your trainer (assuming they've had experience in competition training etc) and go hard!! Good luck :D

Thanks for all the comments! It's definitely the leaning out part that intimidates me the most, which is why I have been putting off committing to a comp! But not anymore! :)

My trainer is very knowledgeable, and luckily, has trained many ladies before, both for figure and physique.

If you guys have any more tips for a first timer like myself on this topic, please share, I would love to get lots of advice and perspectives from the more experienced.

Thanks again. :notworthy:
