medical advisors

hey all,

didn't know where the best spot to put this on here. I have recently started losing a good amount of weight. training hard etc etc. But my right nipple has developed a sore lump over the last month or so, a small lump like a pea. I'm not on any gear and was wondering if anyone has any medical advisors that I could have a chat to. any internet research I have done either covers gyno from steroid effects, or child obesity. right at this moment I don't fit in these categories....

Any ideas?

well went off to the dr to get the word. he had a good poke around, which hurt like hell. luckily he mentioned that because it can move over the pec and under the skin it is suspected to be a benign tumour. they don't suspect it is a form of breast cancer. blood tests have been shown as "normal" so it's nothing to do with hormones. he is recomending me to go to a specialist to have the lump/tumour removed. and it looks like the old southern cross should cover it as it is new and painful.

well to give everyone an update I have been positively diagnosed with unilateral gynaecomastia. thankfully it isn't cancer so chuffed about that. Hormone levels were tested and everything is normal. the dr and specialist is unsure as to why it flared up recently, however the weight and bf loss is suspected as being the culprit.

the dr gave me a script of temoxifan in the hope it reduces in size and discomfort.

I have confirmed that no private health insurance covers gynaecomastia as it is considered 100% cosmetic surgery. pretty rough for all the little fat kids out there that are stuck with it. Nor does ACC, regardless of pain or discomfort, as it wasn't caused by a single trauma.

Costs for surgery I have gained so far are from $4.5k to $6.5k.

initial consultations with the surgeons of about $250. for them to talk to you.

most of them I have talked to have all confirmed that it is best to do the surgery when bf% is as low as possible.

so the next stage for me is to keep dieting, cardio, and weights etc. then when I am at the 10% mark, try and find a spare $6k. :/
