Palm readers/fortune tellers true or not?

The title sort of says it all.... Well a few weeks back I decided to go to a local fortune teller/palm reader just to see if what they had to say was legit or not...

I barely knew the one I went to, only said hi once.. Took my palms and read this and that.... Pretty much what she said about me was 100% accurate and I just about shat my pants

Then went onto to talk about future things etc and some of things she said were true, well what I planned for the future anyway. Other things were well ya know family, kids and all that lol.

So what do people think, based on personal experience if they've been to one or not?

It's fairly common knowledge that they just make it up as they go along, in the same manner as faith healers and other nonsense. I have heard several interviews from 'former psychics' who completely admit that they are masters of reading people and picking things that have a higher probability of being right or likely to be true. They know they don't have any special powers, other than a good attention to detail, persuasive personality and a knowledge of certain likelihoods. I'm not saying they're not skilled at what they do, as I couldn't do it, but the skills are not what you think they are.

There's been a lot of talk about faith healers (who are in the same vein if you ask me) who plant people, or who have people working for them who are milling about among the audience to find likely candidates for their so-called miracles.

There are a few who genuinely believe they have special powers, but what people believe is one thing, reality is another

I've been to tarot card readers and things before - it's fun, nothing more.

yea they are all shit,

check out derren brown, he is the master of mind control, reading people and there futures and all sorts of stuff that would seem to be magic, but as he says there's nothing magical about what he does, he's just mastered psychology, methods of persuasion and reading people to a insane degree.

some drunk old hag in town read my palm once told me she was very accurate and blah blah.

needless to say she told me a bunch of generic crap, funny thing was that none of it even remotely applied to me and when i told her this she got all angry and started yelling at me accusing me of lying :clubbed:

bunch of retards imo, get a real job !

but then you are in asia where they have been doing that sorta stuff for hundreds of years so id be more likely to believe her.

so you wont believe someone whos been bullshitting for 2 years but you'll beleive someone whos been doing it 200 years?

its abit like shooting the ping pong ball out the c*nt into the mouth... the longer u been doing it the more times u gonna get it right... same goes for palm reading... luck or not... you be the judge.

I find palm readers and fortune tellers a waste of time or a load of rubbish. When I do see a add for them ie in the ODT aka Otago Daily times or in the listner.I think how boring or in other words  .

lol... yeah most of the shit she said was true, personality stuff and that. Future stuff will take with a grain of salt though....

It's all nonsense. People can't see the future or predict anything beyond guessing. People are just swindlers and tricksters they learn how other people think and figure out how to manipulate them it's been done all throughout history.

Rookie, it comes down to individual opinion, either you believe in them or you don't. No one else should influence that decision :)

Some will say it's crap and gimmicks, some will say that it's true and what the said came true. In India children are taken to swamis to get their palms read when they are infants. The swamis chart out their life and parents don't tell their kids what was and wasn't said (to the best of my knowledge). Some of their futures pan out exactly, some don't. This is very much a cultural thing as well i.e. infants being taken to swamis.
