When do you decide to cut or bulk?

is it a season thing? is it when you reach a certain % ?mirror? do you set a weight goal ?

it's something I've been looking into lately, obviously there is no magic number and everyone is different, with my bodyfat hovering between 16-18% I weight around 85Kg and am 175cm tall, I’ve asked a few trainers at the 2 gyms I go to and pretty much each trainer tells me a different story, one says to cut till about 10-12% then bulk …his reason being “you will be able to see your gains better when you’re leaner” the other tells me “bulk up…pack on more muscle, after 5-10kgs then worry about cutting, bigger muscles = fat burns off faster”

at the moment I am doing a “Igotnofuckingcluediet” and just eating clean/lifting and doing cardio, I still have a lovely keg errr I mean “love tank” …just wondering how does everyone else do theirs?

When you think you need to. It's different for everyone, if you're unhappy with your body fat, then cut. If you want more muscle and are fine with your body fat, then bulk. I personally prefer to stay semi-lean as I believe it is easier to see gains, but that's my preference. Just do what you need to be happy.

pretty much the exact same thinking as myself Phedder, mind you if I see someone who motivates and inspires me to cut to look better that will be my plan of the day...then if I see someone who packed on some decent muscle I'd want to bulk up

it's like a different goal each day of the week lol
