I lost my favourite mirror to the 1st EQ..Do you even know what its like for a bodybuilder to lose a mirror?

Vain, shallow MF. How about a thought for those that lost their lives, who gives a toss about a mirror.

have had a lot of refugees coming through fitting apartments in the last few days / - being a JAFFA has never been more popular. Theres plenty of room up up here for you all if you are keen > We'll donate Silverdale and Orewa :D

I live on the Eastside. There is not a bar, restaurant, mall, petrol station, gym :( left operational for Kms. Its a very bleak outlook. If you are a mechanic I would get your ass down here because there are going to be so many cars with suspension problems to fix as the roads are like goat tracks in places. Its ironic as I have been going home from work right across to the western suburbs & back across the top ring road to avoid the crazy gridlock traffic. I think we might even surpass some of Auckland's best snarlups as the other night it took me 3.5hrs to do a normal 15min trip :D The Western suburbs are hardly touched. Its like East & West Berlin. They might as well put up a wall & leave us to it in the East. Hard to believe the contrast.

We just had a 4.8 at 7.34pm tonight. Centered 5km from Lyttelton at 11km. For all the sceptics I like to say that Mr Moon , Ken Ring, predicted today 5th March as being a possible day of activity in conjuction with his prediction on 18-23 Feb. Not a real biggy but interesting none the less.

Heard the one after 8 was just as solid ... can't imagine many people will be sleeping tonight if at all.

@Ken Moon: - John Campbell was a bit rough on him last week - I wonder what John thinks of it now.

About Ken Moon.. Vague quotes about dates of 'increased' activity plus or minus several days, without magnitudes, locations, and exact times do not constitute prediction. His bullshit is opportunistic and meaningless self-promotion during a time of national crisis.

NZ has 1400 earthquakes on average per year for fucks sake!

What you fail to take into account is that Ken Moon's information is a PREDICTION not a FORECAST. At no stage does he say that an event will happen. He says there is a likehood of increased activity within a timeframe based on his calculations. I'm not advocating that people take his predictions as gospel because it is, after all, only a PREDICTION. However, I know & have just been discussing with a well respected farmer from the Waiarapa, that his forecasts based on the moon & sun etc in relation to weather patterns in NZ & he has proved to be over 90% correct in these over the last 10yrs excluding a short period of 6mths where his calculations where off beam.

There is no known science for the FORECAST of Earthquakes. Until there is we only have PREDICTION.

Guys come on, I'm not going to turn this into a negative thread. Please do your own research and check out the GNS website for their accurate scientific analysis (which did predict the big one) and look into what Mr Ring is saying. He uses shotgun techniques that both you and I could do.

I have been a Pilot for 14 years during that time not only I have I studied Meteorology but I have experienced the best and worst of it to levels most on here would not begin to understand. Ken Rings so called accurate weather predictions (90% apparently) are normally so far off the mark it's not funny. I do believe his theory on the moon causing weather shifts has some merrit as air is a perfect fluid like water. However his forecasts are more like guesses at best.

Please do your research look into everything (scientific and non) and draw your own conclusions but do not believe everything you hear.

Take a look at the link below it's blows his reason for the 22nd quake out of the water according to his own theory about the moon being at it's closet to the earth.

Skeptics Guide to the Universe has a good discussion of Ken Ring's 'predictions' or whatever you like to call them in this week's podcast. Think it's #294. You can find it on their website (google is your friend) or iTunes. The item is near the beginning so if it's not your thing you don't have to listen to the whole one hour twenty episode.
