Hey all. Just wanted to check in - still here!

I was in Platinum Sport gym at the time. Came out of the building to scenes that resembled 9/11 with regard to all the dust in the streets - you couldn't see 50m and there were buildings down in every direction you looked. Scariest moment of my life without a doubt. So very fortunate compared to some poor souls though!

Just great to see all the CHC guys & Gals coming out on this thread. Really as a BBing/ PLing/MMA community we dont always know each other on this forum & where we come from. I'm offline now for maybe another week as I wait for power to be restored to my home. However I am back operating in my business - Coffee Worx, 239 Opawa Rd, from tomorrow 28th Feb if anyone needs a coffee break & a hug. Please make yourself known to me. We are only 2k from the Lyttelton epicentre so be prepared for a rocking time :grin:

haha fair call. Anytime fitness in riccarton is up and running 24/7. They are doing a so called special for people who can't use their regular gym: $99 for 1 month membership but i'm pretty sure they do that all year round and that isn't that cheap really, but yeah take it if you want it

I went to Canterbury Fitness on Sunday. Had a few big boys training. Friendly guys too. Pity its on the other side of town for me though

Whats the deal with Eastside? I train by myself.. does that mean i cant train there?

Yup, i'm ok thanks guys.

I was sitting next to the 6 story building at polytech when it happened. The building shook like jelly, i thought me and my mates were gone burgers. I don't think anyone was hurt at polytech but loads of people got stuck in the lifts for hours enduring the large aftershocks. More reason to take the stairs eh :pfft:

Walked up Fitzgerald ave to go see if a friend was alright, walking in liquefaction, shit and oil up to my knees with traffic lights out and 10 billion times more cars on the road - suprisingly no road rage. I looked up the street towards the city centre. It looked like something out of 9/11, something that happens on the tele to other people, not to a small town like CHCH. It wasn't until I got to the Edgeware shops that I heard of the fatalities. One man got dragged out of a fish n chip shop that got destroyed. He wasn't breathing :cry: :cry:

I'm back at home now, escaped down to timaru for a few nights. It's not too bad here in Lyttelton. We've always sort of had a community feeling where everyone knows everyone here.

Anyway, end of story

At the gym that I work at which is World Fitness we are sending a truck load of various items up to Christchurch .Items such as rice,pasta,plastic bags,rubbish bags,boxes,dust mask,gloves,loo paper etc.If any of guys use Metaphysics supplements I have some bad new which is when I was talking to one of my friends yesterday I that the factory where Metaphyiscs are made got crumbled in the quake.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN CHCH WHEN... you use the term "liquefaction" in casual conversation. Digging a hole and pooping in your garden is no longer weird. Your mayor describes the city as munted -driving on wrong side of road is normal. You see tanks round town and curfew as a good thing. You are always noting what you are under -Due to frequent aftershocks, you sleep like a baby-wake every 10 minutes & shit yourself.

Haha thats pretty much it in a nutshell. Pretty much over Christchurch to be honest, grew up here but don't think we will be staying here much longer.

I live in Lincoln and this time around we didnt even have plates or cutlery fall out of the cupboard..Even my new mirror still standing on the table..When the first EQ was closer to us and stuff was all over the place.

I lost my favourite mirror to the 1st EQ..Do you even know what its like for a bodybuilder to lose a mirror?
