Thought we could add snippets about recovery techniques, ideas, practices and successes specific to powerlifting and strength training.

Did a vid to show some of the stuff we do regularly...

Be keen to hear what the rest of ya'all get up too. I know the Viking raids small coastal villages and does extensive hip thrusts in order to keep his squat healthy and Big John submerses himself in orange choc chip ice cream for contrast therapy :lol:  but what about the rest of yous...

I like your spirit sir.

I'm fairly certain that you should keep your shoulders "under you" during the sleepers stretch tho. (Just sayin big guy, I mean no harm.)

Indeed I just copied Magnificent mobility, and if you PM me an address to send it to I will send you a copy.

PM sent

Bit slow to get rolling this thread but Im sure it will come good. Im sure Nate, Pman, Tonka, Big Mac etc will be able to offer some good tips. I can just see Nates 1st post now

Take 2 cups of kava....:lol:

Anyway till then how about some contrast shower therapy which I find really good for the day to day niggles you pick up at training

Jump in the shower (deatchable shower head is great for this especially if you can tune it from spray to stream) and directly hit the area with 1 in of cold followed by 1 min of hot (hot as you can bea) followed by cold again then hot again then cold again. Finsh shower. Obviously there will be some discomfort in the more "sensitive areas" but its worth the 3 mins of cold

My recovery work consists of short but sharp extra workouts. Add to that cardio and something I need to do alot more of, stretching. Great work there Steak, your sessions look enjoyable and the variety to what we normally do in the gym has to be refreshing for the body. Good stuff bro!

Stretch what's tight

Mobilize what's stiff

Strengthen what's weak

Pump/flush what's hurting

Take lots of ibuprofen

That about covers it from my end

Interestingly ibuprofen got a bad rap in that recent study (no link) about increased risk of cardiac event & stroke. You're screwed Matt with the amount you take! :pfft:
