Intramuscular Injections (IMI)

medical care is a multi-billion doller business. do you know how much money they would save from neglecting this preparation?
Cost cutting came to my mind too mate.

Weighing up the odds of possible infection probably means they can save hundreds of thousands between them.

Conspiracy theory? :?

So Andre, have you self administered before?

And what is the preferred method of penetrating the surface and getting it in deep enough; the slow push or the fast dart?

I will admitt that I never have injected myself. But I love doing it to others and the last thing that I wousd want to ever to do to anyone is to give them an infection. If you are hitting anyform of blood stream then you really need to think about what you are doing.

The best method is the fast dart, it will hurt less. Unless your into that (pain that is).

As I have said before the information that I have shared is what we have been given to us, along with referances to help back us up. It is up to yo if you choose to swab or not. However if you were to come to be I would not be swabbing. As for the doctors they do not have anything in lines fo best practice and there practice has not changed for thousands of years. They get stuck in the way they do things and they are not required to keep up to date, which nurses are requres to do under the code of rights and it also an ethical thing.

why would you not swab when there is a risk of infection? i don't understand wouldn't you do everything to mitigate the chance of infection??

not necessarily,

i assume they would swab for IV but not for IM or SUBQ. with the infection rate being so low the revenue from thousands of medical professionals administering injections would supersede the cost of cost of administering an infected patient. Andre, are you able to confirm if IV preparation involves swabbing?

Andre i have to disagree with you here. i always go in slow in case i hit a nerve, which does happen on occasions.

Andre is right. No swab is necessary, they changed the protocol. I forget why but they told us the reason at uni. These protocols are established based on years of research and statistical data that your average juice monkey shooting up in the gym loo doesn't have access to.

Some doctors still use swabs, yes, but the current guidelines say not to.
