Squat methods to share....

Reverse pyramiding is ok if your top end weights aren't that heavy but damn there's no straight to 200k+ squatting without a few warm up sets!!

Definitely warm up. If I was to do reverse pyramids I'd do a couple of warm up sets with 1-2 wheels per side then do 1-2 sets of singles with a heavier weight just to get the muscle feeling the weight increase then do my top set before peeling back

Good (and varied) squat viewing.

Bros vs Pros: Squat off.

Cheers for that Mike. Surely you've done some good squat methods in the past? Any of them worth sharing?

does up then down count as good?

I like pyramiding up then doing a last set 40kg lighter of as many reps as possible, no spotter allowed and you have to go to you drop.

Ending up collapsed on the floor is standard practice for squat workouts.

If you do that, you'll find that your legs change shape.

How do you get 40kg less than 'not much'

SAS, what rookie is saying is that for reverse pyramiding it's all about the heaviest weight possible which will be done at the binning of the leg workout. Would you test 1RM squats after completing your leg workout, no

Cheers PD exactly what I was trying to say lol

I didn't say go straight into work sets lol, I always do 2 warm up sets, one with a bar and with 60kgs just to get the blood in the muscles and the joints.

I just don't write my warm up set in my journal, only count the work sets

Of course SAS, if the individual gets good results doing LP first then stick with it. Also since narrow squats were and are my weakness I have to smash them.

I find a narrow stance is stronger, because it's better technique since you can get depth easier IMO. So I would see it as more of a strength

yea reverse pyramids are good tend to do them later in the workout once fatigue kicks in.

Note: i dont do them for squats as i prefer to go heavy (for me) on squats (1st exercise) was just saying that it can be useful

:-s Why do them at the end, when you won't be able to lift as much compared to if you did them at the start?

fixed

lol you get a good balance between weight (going heavy) and reps with reverse pyramids as you may know.. but yes whatever works for you.. if going heavy works then stick to that.
