Fed bashing

Recommended Posts

Doesn't seem to matter where I look but there seems to be a number of people constantly bashing other feds . Hating on IPF . Hating on GPC.  Hating on any fed that isn't their own. Personally I think it needs to stop because it's so childish and basically what I'd expect from 13 year old girls. We should be supporting each other rather than passing vindictive comments on here and other social media because it's just making powerlifting in New Zealand look unprofessional and really you're only tarnishing the image of yourselves and your own feds by doing it. Sure if you have questions then you should speak up but these childlike comments need to stop. Who gives a rats dick what fed somebody chooses to go in. Not me that's for sure and if I had my way I'd compete in multiple feds. Everyone use to make fun of bodybuilding because of how bitchy they were to each other but now it's powerlifters. It's embarrassing and killing what it's really about.

Well I'd say in some ways it's less about the fed and more about the people in it. If something is corrupt then why should people gag themselves? I have no horse in this race but if something is shit it's shit.

When the comments degrade to personal attacks it's a bit childish but it cracks me right up. Truth is why can't a guy compete across every fed if he wants? Oh that's right politics... when you can do one fed one week and another the week after then you'll find a lot of the crap will stop. Or they'll switch to bagging each other on who's equipped and who's raw, who's sumo and who's conventional blah blah blah human nature man. It's not negative as long as it's objective and non personal.

Oh yeah I agree with that totally. If something is wrong it needs to be brought up and it needs to be resolved because otherwise it just causes tension between the Fed and the person or people concerned as we have seen recently.  It needs to be sat down and talked about and then what measures will be put in place to resolve it. Corruption may be a bit of an overkill but more unresolved issues. Just seeing a lot of my ipf mates getting hassled and vice versa and while I'm in gpc I still care because they're just as passionate about the sport as I am and would never put down other feds .  No fed is perfect and we all have things we may disagree with but at the end of the day just stick to your own and go lift heavy.

Doesn't IPF ban it's members from competing in other feds comps?

I reckon powerlifting gonna stop growing in popularity like it has the past few years soon anyway and lots of the guys currently competing won't keep it up forever.

I enjoyed having a go at it but I'm happier not doing it, training f*ck all, not forcing myself to eat, and not constantly being sore.

i am pretty amateur at this stuff so dunno why they compete against each other like this but something that pisses me off for example is that gpc comp where maccaz and stuff competing at in couple weeks is held on the same date that upanz 3 lift event being held. would have loved to go check the gpc one out as a spectator

Yep you can't be a member of IPF if you are a member of another fed. I believe you are allowed to do one novice comp though if you are and I don't think their members can compete in other feds. I believe that's more to do with them trying to get into the Olympics and keeping the IPFs integrity intact which is fair enough I guess but I don't think that will ever happen due to powerliftings track record with doping etc.  GPC and UPANZ allow other feds to lift but I'm not sure how long UPANZ will be able to if they are now affiliated with nzpf? I think they are going to now have a tested and non tested side of things or something and I think they have raw, raw with wraps and equipped so it's all a bit confusing how that will work . I'm probably completely wrong on that it's just what I've taken from people on Facebook.  Fair enough to if it's not for you man you're better doing something you actually enjoy and you're strong as f*ck anyway.

The gpc nats run over two days so call down on Sunday if you're going to the upanz on Saturday.  Come say hi.

i dont think UPANZ will have anything to do with nzpf. They are affiliated with USPA in america i think, and i think they have drug tested division now
