Your telling me Elisa and Tarryn work out and diet as hard as Annette Neralee and Lisa. HAHAHAHA

they'd certainly have to, and certainly should if they want to be competitive,as in any other class. The Pro contestants out there set the benchmark for all the different classes, mens and womens alike. that's where we should look for the standards. pro bikini girls out there have filled a gap in the classes offering more women the oppotunity to get rewarded for their hard work. JimJim i'm sure you can apprecate that with all the training and dieting, no 2 body shapes are alike? the sport shouldn't discriminate againgst those athletes who have put in the hard yards, but genetically can't be competivie in certain classes. IMO Sonia Gonzales due to her natural body shape and make up would always struggle to be the best Figure athlete, BUT perhaps the best figure athlete may not have the best body shape to be the best bikini athlete. The PRO bikini standard is set high and that is what our hard working local girls should be aiming. and that means working as hard as Annette Neralee and Lisa  bodybuilding is not easy, i'v competed and no this first hand, and i too didn't see the point of the class, until i saw pro girls live and realised just what kind of shape they were in. they deserve to be acknowledged for their hard work too.

She can only get better? f*ck me so pro cards are given to people who have the potential to get better. What a joke giving a pro card to a teenager who looks good in a bikini. No wonder there was only 11 people competing.

Come to my show you will probably get a pro card

YES the pro card awarded may not have been earned, but now that she has it, she gota pick her game up cause the spot light on her, especially from people like you on here :pfft: she accepted a HUGE challenge and i for one am not going to go and wish her back luck, and wish her all the best as she can get a much earlier start at the sport than alot more of us!

11 Competitors seems a little light for Auckland? Even the Auckland Powerlifting, which is usually the poor cousin of BBing in terms of competitor numbers, had 42 lifters this weekend.

What was the make up of competitors in terms of classes, or more specifically how many physique competitors??

NZs youngest ever bikini Pro at 16 years old!

What 16 year old doesnt look good in a bikini what the f*ck kind of class is this!!

What next man in tuxedo class? Women in dress class?

And before every body starts with the "it makes it more mainstream" argument, I dont care. Chicks in bikinis who dont have muscles have no place on a bodybuilding stage.

Like said by Mr O, everybody wants to be a bodybuilder but nobody wants to lift the heavy ass weights.

"The pro card may not have been earn but now she has it", what the hell?!?! She accepted a huge challenge?, just like every other person that gets on stage. Just because you turn up on the day doesnt justify getting a pro card.

Are you smoking crack you dont actually believe the swimwear girls train this hard do you? If you saw Lisa and Annette train (sorry I havent see Neralee train but can imagine what its like) there is no way the bikini class girls would come close not many people do.

I don't believe many people train as hard as these ladies including alot of guys ( myself included, I know Annette and she would out train me) ! But to broadly say Bikini Girls are not going to train hard is quite ignorant and even shows a lack of knowledge on what competing is all about on your behalf.

Nothing wrong with broad stereotyping statements. :pfft:

Bodybuilding Isnt about small people its about being as big as a house and destroying the weights. No time for pussies. Go drink some soy and do yoga. YAWN

ha ha ha.. we talking about a professional bikini class, not a swimwear class. get the facts straight here. these chicks are in different classes, which require different physiques!! if bodybuilding didn't cater for everyone we'd see one class for all, men women and all!! it's about setting a standard for the different classes, not about getting rid of them.

with the mindset like yours, Daniel Hibbs, Aaron Noble, Joe Ulberg and many more would have never had a chance at the sport! we all need somwhere to start off and push off from! i guess in your opinion cause they aint as big as a house and wiegh a tonne, they don't smash the weights  and shouldn't be considered bodybuilders

Well said. The class just got the wrong name, it gives people the wrong impression

classic mens got a good catchy name, more creativity maybe instead of "Bikini" would go a long way!

I think you can argue both sides all week. However, being able to produce credible athletes will remain the test for the class. IMO - assigning a procard to an athlete purely because they are the only one that turned up may notlend itself to good promotion. I think you can exercise discretion unless of course you are merely looking to bump up numbers in order to fast track the classes development.

Girl that got the card has a nice body - I wouldn't have a clue where you would have a development conversation with a bikini athlete but I guess you get leaner and leaner until you are too lean and then need to fatten up again? ...

Gosh - you all do go on. At the end of it all - perhaps these bikini girls do train hard - to whatever degree that may be. But lets understand that they are not and will never be classed as bodybuilders. Beautiful, yes, stunning ladies to look at and very much mainstream which is what most if not all federations are wanting. However to use Classic Class as a comparison for a bikini class - is not a very good comparison at all. These men have muscle - obviously not to the extent that Jimjim may want to see - but these guys are clearly bodybuilders! And there in lies the difference! Plus - please dont use my nephew Aron as an example - thank you - Im pretty sure he would not like the comparison!.

Right - Im off to build some muscle - night night :pfft:

ok i have an interesting perspective for you all to ponder, its not my opinion just someting to put into the mix and stir up the conversation a little (sorry its a bvit of a threed hijack but perhaps the title of the thred shoud change :) )

if the miss new New Zealand pagent decided to extend its class range to hold a MR New Zealand, and said that muscularity was a key judging point would you compete? y/n?

I feel for the average person who went along to the show and got to watch 11 athlets competing at the show.I hope the numbers will be better for the Auckland champs next mounth.

Yes, I agree - not really value for money with so few athletes.
