Role Models..

G'day,

Wouldnt it been good if there was a bodybuilding website where you could do specific searchs on a bodybuilders height, weight, BF comp etc etc. Im just trying to find a realistic role model i.e Arnie I will never be.

for example:

http://www.impactfoto.com/proofs/events ... wm-442.htm

theres no way of telling how tall or how much this guy weighs.

if anyone knows of a website with some realistic and i emphasize realistic role models with their stats I'd like to know.

Thanks in advance

:)

well.. its hard to compare yourself to others in bb considering you have unique genetics. i would use yourself, and just keep improving upon ur current physique

I dunno, I find it hard to judge yourself as you can get pretty obsessive. I almost aliken it to how an anorexic can't accuraly see what they look like as you over examine yourself.

As true as it is- that we are all genetically unique, we all have the same basic body structure so i think it's reasonably fair to compare ourselves to others, just don't make it the be all and end all. Just use it as a rough guide.

I know for example that I have severally lacking legs. Therefore for the weight I am, it's probabily fair to say I have a bigger upperbody than a more evenly developed person with my stats.

As for the origional question- sorry don't know of a certain site, but if you want someones stats just google them.

I don't see why they wouldn't be?

Role Model- Dictionary.com

n : someone worthy of imitation;

Imo that's what a role model is- someone you strive to be like. The only way you can really do that is by comparing yourself to them.

You said you'll never be like Arnie so he can't be your role model? So you want someone you could be like... to imitate?

I think that definition of role model is a little simple, really it is someone who you model yourself after not just in one thing but someone who you hold up as say a paragon of what you want to be, in all things.

There are many body builders I would like to be able to emulate phsicaly, but hold them up as role models to strive to be like them period. mmm I think not.

What?

I miss where that definition says 'in one thing' or 'in all things'? [edit- Although in rereading I sort of see what you mean] I don't believe in having just one role model because I can't find someone who inspires me across all my fields of interest or approaches those disciplines with my style or general philosophies.

/edit - I'm knacked that might not make as much sense as I'd like it to

Dont worry I see what you mean, and i'm not having a go at you just "stimulating debate" for want of a better phrase. I ofetn reread some things I have written here and else where using a keyboard and feel it doesnt quite express what I wanted it to. for me its a case of my mind working faster then my slow typing.

Nah mate that's fair enough, if I'm off definatly have a go at me about it, makes for more interesting conversation . Rereading what I wrote I didn't make a distinction between someone worthy of imitation and a characteristic someone has that is worthy of imitation.

I'm the opposite, my brain can't keep up with my typing so I omit certain words or key ideas if I don't think of them fast enough :pfft:
