blairandkelly
Just heard it on the news. I wonder how many olympic athletes aren't using performance enhancing drugs?my thoughts exactly, but the IOC loves showing the world they got another one. now we can all relax and feel reassured that Beijing will be the cleanest games yet.. :pfft: what a joke
craig.j
yea, the way they randomly test athletes is a joke. you can skip the country and generally bide time untill ur clean...its stupid, its as if they dont want to catch people

I believe it is the USA Olympic committee that turns a blind eye to the tests, reults, and no-shows.
Kiwi
I thought the team implications were interesting. i.e. not only does she have to give back her medals but as she competed in relays etc, other members of the team may have to give back their medals as well. Dumbelldog
Nandrolone I believe. Her ex-husband (can't remember name) was an Olympic Shot Putter who had been done for the same drug and also for distribution of.If I'm not mistaken that shows up on a drug test for up to 18 months after administration? That's just plain bloody stupid if you ask me. :?
Old Bull
I'd just like to know what she was taking. Maybe HGH?She was taking THG, which heaps of athletes were taking but only a few coaches new what it was. It was manufactured by BALCO, Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative. A coach who had a fall out with Balco, Trevor Graham sent USADA a used syringe containing THG in 2003: He was a sprint coach to Marion Jones, Tim Montgomery and Justin Gatlin. Prior to this, WADA had no knowledge of this drug, therefore could not test for it. They had another one called modafinil both were known as clear to the athletes and some were told it was fish oil. There were all sorts of rumours that a lot of National Olympic teams were heading over to Balco for 2 months, then the coaches would go over.Balco had big success with ZMA, Fuel which they said was, what a lot of those athletes got.OB 8)
waldo
That is the big arguement for the guys who test positive for nandrolone but claim it is a metabolite of over the counter supplements they use. Why would you use something that sticks around that long? Exactly.
waldo
It appears she tested positive for EPO, it was her ex-husband CJ Hunter who was done for Nandrolone.http://sport.independent.co.uk/general/ ... 033381.ece

big MAC
Whats amazing is that the races she won were still pretty close wins.maybe the others were on it too?Not sure I'd use 'maybe'.I'd just like to say, Marion was likely the most tested woman in the world, yet she still got off. I'd confidently guess that she got "randomly" tested once a week.
poos_n_wees
This is sad. I've always looked up to her for a number of reasons as a teen, with her being "natural" as one of them.
