The Legend Killer
If money is the problem it would take over 12 years of gym membership (at say $16 p/w) before you broke even on $10,000 worth of equipment, and then that doesn't include maintenance costs, or depreciation. Cammo
Get a gym membership - let someone else deal with the maintenance.
Pseudonym
They both look like cool machines, and if I was staying in a hotel had one of these, I'd be very happy. I'd probably go for the free weights over the cable machine though. But as the others say, however good those all-in-one machines may be, they're never going to come close to a proper gym in terms of value for money, or the variety of exercises you can do.The biggest problem I have with the multi-function machines is that while they do provide an exercise for every muscle, they don't provide many alternatives. That makes it hard to change your workout routine, and I really believe change is the key to progress.Don't get me wrong... all-in-one machines have their place. I started training on a small one of those, and it was a good introduction which built confidence and made joining a gym that much less scary. But I'd only view it as a short-term solution, and certainly wouldn't spend 10k on one.
saba
thanks for the feedback, but the gym just isnt for me. I like to train after work late usually around 10.30pm so it makes gym harddoes anybody have any experiance with the Titan at all or the Matrix equip? I am seriously looking at the titan along with dumbbells 15kg-50kgi have done a fair bit of research and it seems like the right choice even with variations... any feedback on the equipment? Mike Zero
- power cage/smith- 45 degree leg press- cable crossover- calf raise- pec fly- t bar row (maybe)Powercage - yes, you'd definately want that. Smith, no.Leg Press - don't need it, do front squats or lunges or something.Cable Crossover - a cable machine would be usefull I geuss but not a must, there is alternatives.Pec fly - no, use dumbbells.T-Bar Row - no, use an olympic bar in a corner.Other stuff - a bench, plate loaded DB's pretty much everything is covered by the power cage. I'm sure if you went down to your local engineering place you could get them to throw one together reasonably cheap for you.

saba
thanks flex, but the boos rack doesnt seem to be able to do half the things that can be done on the titan. Also yes, i could cut corners on some exercises like using an olympic bar on a corner for t bar row, but why cut corners when machines like this can make life easier? Still up for suggestions on free weight multi-use equipment, looking at buying this weekend. I have contacted the NZ distributor of the titan and got a really good deal, so if all else fails will be going ahead and buying this beast!Still keen to hear from any current owners of the Titan...? if they post at this forum... saba
thanks dumbbelldog, but will have to give it a miss. Am going for the Titan package 1. Denise and Jack at titan nz have been really helpful and gave me a few pages of references and feedback for past titan owners, i called a couple to make sure its legit and the 2 past owners i called in australia had great things to say in regards to the construction, versatility and changeover plus a whole bunch of other questions i asked..anyway, will be putting a deposit down this weekend and after its all setup and i have started training ill be back here to leave my feedback and comments..cheers

saba
Hi Guys, just a follow up to my last post when I was considering to purchase the Titan T1 - well I went ahead with it and spent the money...I have to say it was well worth it! When the truck first pulled up with my new titan t1 I was surprised how good the packaging of the crate was, and when e and a mate started unpacking it was just awesome, the build quality and design that has gone into this beaast is amazing - I was initally sold on the fact that it was a solid machine, but I didnt think it would be this good! Now it did take about a week to learn how to use the titan t1, but well worth it...I can do all of my routines with great isolation unlike many commercial machines ive used at gyms in the past...the big concern for me was that could I fit more weight on the machine, i personally cant push much on the vert leg press but my mate can push 600kg which is no probs for my titan t1! Im glad I decided to buy this beast, now I can change up my routines each month and keep intensity up on a great machine. From start to finish jack and denise at titan were great to deal with and this would have to be the best investment i have made in myself for a long time! ive attatched a pic of my setup. cheers
Pseudonym
Good to hear. Thanks for the followup, mate. It looks like a pretty imposing edifice of a structure... How much space does it take up?
saba
well im a happy man to say the least, I have a bit of room in my shed so space wasnt a big deal for me... but doing a quick measurement Id say you would need a space of 3x3m to work it comfortably...otherwise i think anything less then youd be bumping walls etc...oh it came with weights too...they gave me 200kgs includedd in the package... i already had some weights laying around also which comes in handy on some routines...cheers
