Training (or lack of) with Broken Bones !!

Hey everyone,

I have always been a bit of a lurker on these boards, but now i need some advice.......

I am a regular at the gym and was planning to be good and keep up the regular routine of the xmas/new year break, but unfortunately i broke a couple of ribs on the weekend.

The Dr has said no gym for at least 3-4 weeks :cry:

Has anyone else been in this situation??? Is that it for me??

Can anyone suggest any exercises that i can do in the meantime that will keep me from turning into a whale???? I should be able to keep up the cardio on the bike, but i dont want to waste all that muscle :(

I agreee with Cammo .I recently had my appendix out and the doc told me the same no gym for 3-4 weeks .I tried to keep my diet tight and reduce my carbs.essentialy there was no dramatic fat gain or muscle loss.A break can be very benefical in most cases.Give your body time to recover.

I agree with the others - give yourself a break (pardon the pun!) :D

I'm guessing you've been training regularly for a while, so your body will thank you for a rest. Plus it's an ideal time to rest (Xmas/New Year). Keep your diet clean, do some light cardio and rest those ribs - no weights and not too much laughing! :D

well i guess majority rules then huh !!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone !!! I guess i will just concentrate on the diet and resolve to go hard in about 6 weeks time !!!

Poos - I went Go Karting for our work xmas party..... there was a bit of trash talk going on, which led to some pretty drastic cornering tactics, which led me to the tyre wall !!!! But i still came 3rd !!!!

And to think we are all a bunch of girls !!!

Not to throw a spanner in the works.

But injuries have to worked around if you are competing, most of us Darksiders train with some sort of injury, Olys and Pls have about 4 major injuries every 1000 hours of training, Lower back Rotators Pls, and knees elbows shoulders Olys. The rest are niggles that you have to work around other wise you would never get to a comp.

Thanks for that Old Bull, good to see the other side of the coin !!!

I have decided to eat what i want to until the end of Boxing Day, then im gonna be good until i go back to the gym, mid January !!!

Have a good xmas and New Year everyone. DO some good squats for me !!!

Poos - yeah thats all i was worried about too, the track marshall came over and told me that he had seen it all and that he thought i broke something and that i should head into the pits....... i was like " how many laps to go???" When he said 2 left, i just took off !!!!

Couldn't let the side down !!!! :nod:
