Fat loss/muscle gain

Hey guys this might be a pretty daft question, I know you cannot gain muscle mass and loose fat at the same time naturally.

But is this possible with gear?

I would assume not because of calorie deficits/surplus's?

Just had an argument with my mate about this and he seems to think you can do both

I believe you can do both "for a period of time". The best I have done personally is lose 3.5% b.f (3.8kg'sh) and gained 3.5kg LBM over a 6 week period. (June-July this year). This was the period that I upped all my protein-size meals to 60gms+ each.

Like anything in BB nothing is consistent and it could be that my muscles were lacking in the protein amount to begin with and this was major absorption taking place. I can't repeat this again else I'd be a monster by now so there's more than just "gain muscle mass and loose fat at the same time" going on here.

you can do both without gear.

I thought that in order to gain weight you needed to be in a calorie surplus and then to loose weight you have to be in a calorie deficit. Makes sense, no?

yes you will have to have an energy surplus to gain weight, and also a deficit to lose weight.

That doesnt nessecarily mean that you cant lose fat and gain muscle at the same time though, or gain mainly muscle.

Eating at an energy surplus just ensures that you will gain muscle at a high rate rather than risking slower gains you might make eating at/near maintanence.

Thats interesting, hadn't thought of it that way

And yeah I know muscle is MUCH harder to gain that to loose fat
