Varvenz, EU and big MAC workout with the "Monday warrio

Hi everyone, last night Varven aka Varun, Expensive Urine aka Stas and myself aka Jono got together for what was meant to be a squat workout at AKL uni's rec centre. Unfortunately Ash got stuck at work and couldn't make it, but nevermind, we'll do this again sometime.

Having never been to the rec centre, I was pretty suprised how full it was, way more people than I've seen in a gym in NZ. The only people working their legs were females... everyone was doing chest and bicep stuff, but hey I guess thats expected.

Unfortunately Stas felt a tweak in his back with 100kg on squats, and cause he left today to Samoa for the Oceania junior weightlifting comp, didn't want to risk anything, bummer... but oh well.

Varun hit a really easy 160kg deadlift for a 5kg PB. He's gonna hit 170 really soon.

I wasn't feeling in that good shape, really tired, a bit sick and had just done some heavy lifting 2 days before. Was still happy to squat 230kgx2 which was a rep PB, never done reps with anything over 210kg. Varun has that on video... although I think the guy taking the video may have messed it up... oh well. I took 240 for a ride, didn't go right down, came up fast and then just stopped and dropped it. Ah well. Did some clean pulls to 170x3 and 180x2, got vids of that.

This is what happens when you shout stas dinner, give him 20 bucks and then go to the toilet... I came back to:

We each got

9 piece chicken tenders with sauce

2 whoppers

med fries

med drink

2 BK chickens

Ate the Whopper for breakfast.

Hey dude, the 75lb muscle jock that I got to shoot the video screwed it up. He apparently forgot to press the record button.

sorry folks, you dont get to see Jonos bloody impressive 230 for 2 reps squat.

You only get to see the 240 that he ditched.

Ah man bugger... it sucks the 240 I didn't go as low as normal, came out of groove and just generally screwed it up. Ah well... would have been good to see the 230 video... but hey another day I'll do it again.

Yeah no big deal man.. coupla weeks and im sure well see you banging a double rep on 250 and we can shoot a better video of that :nod:

Screw doubles.. they're cardio... nah in all honestly I'm just after a 260kg single in the next few weeks, but we;ll see.

It's really neat hearing how the NZBB community extends to the real world too. Warms the cockles of me heart, it does! :grin:

Oh, and congrats on the PB with the Burger King.

Ah it was awesome man. I think we're going to have the next one at Gillies avenue gym in Newmarket. Good times.

Awesome lifts big mac, very impressive bro! I think you will get that next try. Maybe keep the head up a little more and lead with the hips and glutes. Very minor though bro. I havnt been following your journal at all but if you arent doing them do some good mornings, thats where i think you stalledat the point wherethe torso need3d to straighten, it was there.

what set and rep range were you using ?
