Gymnation challenge: Maximum weight, minimum time

Earlier this week we were talking about a 1000lb total in 15 seconds, and how we should turn it into a challenge The awesome people at Mighty Ape want to see this happen, so they’ve put up a big bag of Mutant Whey protein for the winner, plus a bunch of other cool spot prizes...

Here's how it works:

The aim is simply to lift the maximum weight in the minimum time.

Specifically, that means we'll take your total in Wilks points - squats, bench and deadlift - then divide that by your time. The clock starts as you descend on your squat, and stops after the deadlift when your weight hits the floor (this gives us precise start/stop points).

You can win either by being strong, or by being fast. :D

Because this challenge involves the Wilks formula, you'll need to show yourself on the scales. And of course you need to show each of the weights you'll be lifting. Full reps only, please. Wraps/sleeves/belts are allowed. Usual terms and conditions apply.

The challenge ends Sunday 18th October, so you've got just over a week. Get into it!

Good luck you speed buggers who can do this! Takes me 15 seconds just to get off the couch, I'm out

That's not a problem - just lift more. :-)

thanks pseudo for organising, now just have to figure out how to do this all with only 1 bar haha

Might need to pay Wolf's Gym a casual visit?

Hopefully get a chance to try.

Do you reckon next Sunday gives everyone long enough? The idea was that this just would be a quick-and-dirty little challenge, so I didn't want to drag it out for too long.

Here's my entry

650kg @ 124kg in 59 secs

260kg squat

160kg bench

230kg dead

371 wilks / 59 secs

6.29 points

Didn't realise I needed to weigh in but I'm 124kg. Plenty of people would verify that. Up to you guys if you allow entry or not just doing it for fun anyway. Had minor pec tear last week so took it easy

Haha yeah man was running dry on plates lol.

Things I learnt

- Knee wraps probably not a good idea, sleeves be better overall as they got in the way of setting up bench and deadlifts

- Have your bars all in close proximity so you're not wasting time running between stations

- If you can't then at least have your route planned and clear beforehand (I wasted 15 seconds running around trying to get from the bench to the deadlift platform

- Chalk your hands before the squats so you not wasting time chalking before deadlifts

I reckon I could get my time under 30 seconds and probably total another 100kg more.   Hopefully I'll get another shot before entries close
