Does anyone know ny natural physique competitions in Auckland? Preferably around November or December?

The ones I found only does one show a year. Most of the calendars only have a couple month notice.

I want to compete naturally because I don't want to get embarrassed next to juiced up guys(nothing against them).

And is there such thing as truly natural comp in nz? Went to one last weekend on the north shore and one guy had the obvious as gyno and one guy was obviously massive. Maybe 160cm at 80-85kgs

Hi _jco

INBA is the body building federation in NZ that focuses on "natural" body building.

They run three competitions a year, one in Taupo (June ish), one in Queenstown (September ish), and one in Auckland (May).

Tbh I do not know that their drug testing policies are enforced but in reality more of an honesty thing. My understanding is that you are asked to sign a declaration that you are not using performance enhancing drugs. Realistically formal drug testing is rediculously expensive and is unlikely to be affordable by any federation in NZ.

Gyzz those guys stand out. Why are they on a totally different level if they are completely natty? Never said I'm 100% sure they are not natty but they don't test them. You only have to tick a box saying you haven't used gear before.

Come on Gyzz, it was a completely legitimate question asked by _jco. He doesn't deserve your rubbish straigh off the bat or really at all.

As for question I actually asked INBA the other day on facebook. I saw on a poster they said drug testing would be happening at the competition. Drug testing should be transparent and people should be able to know what exactly is testing. So I asked. I was told that all overall winners are required to give urine samples post win and anybody "who looks suspicious" will be asked for a urine sample too. They are then sent to a laboratory in the USA and the results are back with INBA NZ seven days later.

I said it must be an expensive process, they said yes but they have to do it.

So that is the answer from the INBA themselves.

Do I believe that? No.

Yes. The form said you'll have to pay $500 if you come out positive. But it says they will only test you if they suspect you. The show is too small for anyone to care if they are legitimate natural. I want to compete, don't care if I'm against people on gear but bodybuilding websites for nz ones are so shit. Can't see a date that is 6 months away. Can't do a real plan for one unless I stay ripped but I need some size. That's my dilemma.

I asked him. He said the NABBA comps are untested. But their physique show is not like the physique show I was thinking about(they wear trunks, bigger than the 'proper'physique. Maybe I'll just wait for next May's INBA

Well, a moderator deleted it. Gyzzbrah's been trolling and abusing other members for a while, and he's now been banned.

Anyway jco, I just wanted to echo want everyone else has said... You're absolutely fine to get on stage. You've got good legs too - so why hide them under board shorts? Maybe go for the NABBA "trunk-wearing" class, so you can use them to your advantage?

Couldn't agree more. It seems they're now all so concerned about creating Facebook events that no-one remembers to post the details on their website. Half the time you can't even find a poster until a couple of weeks out.

If you're really lucky, you might find they've put up an event calendar which (although subject to change) should give you an idea of the dates.

I don't follow many of the feds but NABBA-WFF had a poster out end of last year with the full calender for this year on it which was pretty useful...

And yep, why hide those legs? :)

Yes but the dates only go as far as Oct.And it's an untested comp anyways. I want to do physique because my back is really lagging so I think I won't do well in bodybuilding

Just roll with a whatever comp you want mate. In NZ you are likely to do well based off your photos and atleast in one of the other feds you are likely to have an ok amount of people to compete against. I wouldn't base your decision off the drug thing.

I think you may be surprised how well you do in any mainstream physique competition.

Don't get wound up about those who may or may not be using. Primarily this is about how you improve yourself from show to show!

Yeah I guess instagram models ruined my perception. Do you reckon bulking for 8 weeks then cutting for 12 is a good plan? If I slow bulk with 200 cals max a day.quite lean atm. Quads separation but need to bulk because abs are underdeveloped.

No, that is pointless. And too much thinking for me. 8 weeks is like 8 leg trainings in other words it's not enough time. Especially if you are natural. And with 200cal surplus above maintenance it won't get you very far.

If you think you are too small, start eating and train heavy and compete next year. If you want to compete this year focus on getting as lean as possible.

I do not believe in the necessity to bulk. A good diet program with ample carbs and protein need not bulk you but just supply you with food necessary for growth.

Why put fat on just to have to take it off?

As for abs that is just a question of training program.
