Ladies, do we "gymtimidate" you?

bullshit article lol. sounds like some passive aggressive womans list of excuses of why she doesn't go to the gym but wants to show the world of how she would if men weren't such dogs.

add in these items

#11 gym not a place to fking socialise/gas bag. no one want to hear your conversation bitching about how you cant handle workload or ur bfs not giving u his cawk as much cos got some sidechick. go there and mind your own business, enjoy doing what you there to do and get out. when you there focusing on doing what you there to do its less of a chore and you waste less time thinking of excuses to not be there.

#12 you dont want the eyeballing then dress different. its no less comfortable wearing full t-shirt and pants over something that looks like lingerie in a public place.... not that i mind but when did such dress attire become 'necessary' for a workout. dont forget u women eyeball each other too looking each other up and down judging lol why would you expect guys not to notice when you dressed to be noticed (whether your feminist movement acknowledges basics of attraction or not)

No its a perfectly sound article. Some people are just too sexist and prejiduced to handle the truth.

The reason why women dont gym is because of idealized socially constructed gender roles and a oppressive culture of patriarchal dominance and the idea of women being objects.

Amusing article and some relevant but bottom line is that none of these issues will really scare away a girl who wants to train with weights. We will carve out our own niche in the weights area.

Those who can't will head to the women's gym where the perfume and make up predominate!

I have respect for any person/s male or female who goes to the gym yeah sure it bet its daunting if your new but if your in there busting your balls i respect you! for those cunts who want to moan and say "I'm intimated, he's looking at me or he's grunting, get the f*ck outta here!!

If someone wants to come up to you and try and tell you how to squat tell the c*nt to f*ck off? simple! don't moan about it.

Agree with Kiwicannon.

As long as you are in the gym trying to better yourself then you have my respect.

If you dont like the way someone is looking at you, then tell them to f*ck off.

If you dont want advice from the local gym perv, tell him to f*ck off.

Plenty of like minded individuals that will back you up if you did feel intimidated.

Go to gym, f*ck shit up and leave, simple.

Let's be honest, those that are there to train dont give a f*ck about what the guys are doing.

I'm at wolf's and we've probably got some of the biggest guys around on average, no superfreaks but on average guys are pretty big and there's talented guys like Sam Mohammed, Luke Parker and a bunch of others I don't know.

Then there's the girls....no Les Mills showponies here! These girls train as hard or harder than the boys, and I doubt give a f*ck what anyone else is thinking at the time...tbh with Kate I sit there constantly shaking my head thinking wtf I should just quit! And the new girl with the hood who roles in and reps 107 atg squats no belt or wraps...wants to do first PLing comp....tells me belts are for pussies!

Pretty sure I was the gymtimidated one there lol..

Most girls I see at gyms are caked up with makeup wearing next to nothing running on there treadmill and are to pussy to do weights because there scared they will get muscles...... They sit there eye fucking the room especially at les mills where it's all platformed watching above you looking at you like a piece of meat and we don't complain. These are the ones that are babbling this crap.

Then you have the girls who come in wearing hardly any makeup that hit the weights/ sweat it out to get toned and don't worry about what's going on around them and just mingle with the guys. These chicks are cool.

Some girls intimidate me especially when they park there bench right infront of where your training and bend over to do kickbacks right in your face or this one girl who does a lot of stretching I was sitting on the shoulder press and she' parks her mat in front of me like 1 metre away in the road of a walking path and starts bending her legs right behind her head and shit, same girl when I was using cable machine right next to the mirror parks her self right next to my cable and there's about 1.5 metres from me to the mirror and she was inbetween that doing the same thing.

I think the gym is intimidating to people who haven't been before. They walk in thinking everyone is watching them and women seem to be more sensitive to this. Once they realize no one cares what they're doing they usually get comfortable. If they never get to that stage then there's always the women's only gyms.

Speaking for myself I'll notice someone who's working hard male or female but I never talk to anyone or say anything. I just make a mental note that if that person wants a bench or dbs or something I'm using I'll be a little more polite than I might otherwise be.

This raises an interesting question. Obviously, I've never been in a women's only gym. But I'd be curious as to how they create a less intimidating atmosphere. What happens if a girl goes there and wants to actually train hard? Do they ask her to leave before she scares the rest of the clientele?

I have visions of a gym full of women standing around being ultra-nice, and super-considerate, and talking to each other in hushed voices. Is this how it is, ladies? :D

All my mates at work that wanted to go to the gym said they didn't because they felt intimidated and out of place. Doesn't really matter whether you're male or female, I think if you step in an environment that's not what you're accustomed to, then you're gonna have to go through a period of adjustment. That being said, there definitely are jerks at the gym that contribute to the intimidating factor.
