About eggs and only the good ol' eggs.

 Hey peepz,

(I had to edit this and delete the first paragraph. It looked and sounded like gibberish. I must have been on a high the day I typed it.)

Lots of sites stipulate that egg yolks are bad if you eat over a certain amount, as it raises your fat and cholesterol too much, contrary to this, there are also sites that say egg yolks are good for you and they encourage you to not waste them. With meat getting more expensive every year, I find that eggs are an awesome and cheap alternative for protein and aminos found in the yolk.

Confusion-samusion is messing with my mind and It's making me insane in the membrane with all these sites saying this and that.

Yeah, yeah, I'm an egg whore, I know.

 Hey peepz,

Does blending eggs in a blender destroy the avidin in the egg white? Can I eat about 20 egg yolks a day and still lose weight? Can a bodybuilder or person survive on eggs for protein goodness, instead of eating meat (egg vegan)?

Too many egg yolks isn't going to be a good thing. They are high in saturated fats, its like the old myth that coconut oil is good for you despite being one of the highest in saturated fats...

It has been shown eating eat yolks in moderation is health as they are loaded with the vitamins that are fat soluble etc.

I definitely won't recommend eating 20 a day that a long with your pre-workout obsession will probably send you to early heart issue, but I'm no doctor.

As for meat being expensive.... I would have thought eggs were a more expensive source... you can get 12kg of chicken breast from Magills for $100 +gst....

I'm not sure on the reason for the differentiation between a bodybuilder and a person is but is both could survive on only egg protein their are plenty of people doing it. Would get sick as of eggs though I would imagine and eggs are also quite a high source of sodium whether that is an issue to you or not.

Yeah well who gives a f*ck what the sites say. Since when did some f*cker on the internet with a quirky opinion dictate your life choices? Actuall scientific evidence says fat is generally bad for you so having 20 yolks a day is a pretty shit idea isnt it br0

This ^ is post of the month (srs)

 Hey Jimmybro1,

If I was to pay $6 (how much PaknSave sell them for) for a tray of 30 size 6 eggs. An average size 6 egg has about 7 grams of protein, but, without the yolk it's only 3.5 grams protein. So, If I was to eat 20 whole eggs a day and 10 egg whites, I worked that out to be roughly 155g of protein, which is well above the RDI for protein. Then would that not make me turn into a muscle making machine, which is why I differentiated a bodybuilder from a person. (Yes, I should have just said bodybuilder, I know).

If I was to buy 7 trays of eggs, consuming 1 tray everyday, I'm only spending $42 a week for my protein source. If you are on budget like me, then this is a very cheap source of healthy protein. Another good thing about egg yolks is that it has biotin to help stop a biotin deficiency, If I was to eat mainly egg whites and no yolks, the avidin in the egg white will cause me to have a biotin deficiency.

If you read this article: http://authoritynutrition.com/how-many-eggs-should-you-eat/

Towards the end of the article it says: How much is too much? An 88 year old guy consumed 25 whole eggs a day and that he had normal cholesterol levels. I have heard many people eating over 20 whole eggs a day and they claim to be fit and healthy.

My only concern is, if I start eating 20 whole eggs a day you might be right about the heart issues. I don't think there has been enough research done on eggs and that I'm not sure, if I should or I shouldn't eat 10-20 whole eggs a day.

Holy f*ck br0 their just eggs it's not even a big deal. Everyone has them it's not some big issue for you because you think your living a different lifestyle from everybody else. Just go to countdown and buy a pack and have a few for brekkie like a good bloke.

And why the f*ck should some shit anecdote on the internet make you believe its true.

You ask about eggs and then give your own fking opinion

Gyzz chill dawg lol.

You want to get your protein from different sources... Is really eating a shit tonne of just eggs everyday realistically sustainable? You are going to hate life pretty fucking quickly. There are worse things you can eat than egg yolk. Yolks contain a the goodness of the egg it's not just all about protein... I think sometimes we all get lost in a protein macro wet dream. Everything in moderation. Mince, whey, fish (there a Vietnamese river fish that like $6 a kilo and no the shit you hear is completley untrue about it swimming in sewage), eggs, put almonds in bag and write the lollie code on the bag... Heapsa cheap protein sources. Moderation.

Hey Realtalk,

I think the Vietnamese river fish you are refering to is the basa catfish. Unfortunately I can't stomach seafood and LOL at the almonds code trick, I will try that one, knowing my luck though, the checkout operator might know the codes by memory.

Peanut butter and whey protein are cheap sources too.

Still, I'm keen to hear how you feel after a tray of eggs erryday for a week.  That sounds totally miserable

Yes, very true about the protein and peanut butter. Do you mainly rely on Protein and peanut butter, if so, has it worked for you?

I'm going to start eating a tray of eggs a day starting next week, but have decided to only consume 10 egg yolks a day instead of 20, as I agree that 20 is too steep.

I did 6 eggs a day for a while - but that's a long way off 20. And on that diet my cholesterol levels were just above the normal range. Not high enough to panic about, but high.

If it raises my cholesterol levels, I will certainly be cutting back. I have decided to to post my photos and how It effects my cholesterol levels. At the moment I am 101kg and 15% body fat. My goal is to see If I can drop my body fat with eggs whilst at the same time keeping and maintaining my muscle.

Anyway, no one answered my main question. If I blend 8 eggs in a blender, will that deactivate the avidin in the egg white? C'mon there must be an egg brainiac genius out there that knows the answer to this question.

It gets denatured upon cooking anyway br0

If you think a small peptide who's functions are insignificant / unknown to humans will even absorb in your stomach or exhibit any form of effect on your gains then you have sadly been mislead by internet bullshit.

I like to have 2 boiled eggs before i go to bed, some times a prawn or shrimp omelette. i follow this with about 750 ml of chilled green tea i prepared earlier. then i go to bed.
I keen to hear how those 20 eggs go down.. Id recommend boiling the first 10 and eating them as fast as you can, trying to beat your time every day. Eventually you might be able to win one of the food challenges which i think is eating 10 boiled eggs as fast as possible. good luck and make sure you let us know how it goes

To some point I agree with what you are saying. But, does a blender heat the egg enough to deactivate the avidin. Avidin blocks about 50% of the protein from being digested in your body and is known to cause high biotin deficiency. Biotin deficient people will get all or some of the following symptoms: malnutrition, rapid weight loss, hair loss, brittle nails, diabetes, and mild depression. It is also the reason why I choose to eat more yolk as it counteracts biotin deficiency, the yolk is nutritiously abundant in biotin. When I go on my egg diet next week, I would like to be able to blend some of my egg meals, as it's quicker and makes good recipes for smoothies. I want to feel good knowing I'm absorbing all the protein and not just 50% of it. But, as I am still unsure, I will be cooking my eggs and will not be blending them. By the way, Gyzz. I only read articles by nutrition experts and they are scientifically researched. It's not internet bullshit, as you call it.
