chaos
put some pics up then. or even better a video of you bent over barbell rowing 200kg for 6-8 reps with no strapsLOL Why would I do bent over rows with 200kg? LMFAO!!All I'm saying is that with a little experience and a little time, my grip is just as strong at the beginning of a back workout as it is at the end. It's not my fault you're a pussy and have to use a strap to keep the barbell in your little girly hands. Illiterate?First you came out saying you should never use them, then that you should now you're saying tom has girly hands for using them, which is it?Read the thread.......the OP starts a thread, wants to know how to improve his grip for deadlifts for a contest lift, I gave my suggestion to lose the straps, believing(sinc he said he will be doing bench, deads, squat) tha he was into powerlifting......then a few posts later he says his focus is bbing.........so I tell him to use the straps.......a few illiterate people can't see the difference and so they keep bringing it up.....IMO powerlifters/strongmen(specifically) should not train with straps.Powerlifter.....what good does it do to lift 300+kg with straps when your grip won't hold it for a comp?Strongman......try picking up farmers walk with straps.....try lifting stones with straps.....try doing an axle clean/press with straps...... nate225
I do bent over rows with 200+ But they're damn rugged! I agree with both views funly enough! Majority should be done strapless, but where grip is fatigue or is impacting on ability to train the back I would use straps. Don't be a gear whore and use them all the time - no benefit really. Grip can be trained seperately if needed also.

As they do for most people.I believe you are quite strong, no argument there.Question is, if you did your rows first, could you do them withouts straps up to your normal weight vs doing them in the middle somewhere and using straps? For the record, I hardly do bb bentover rows anymore, been on the dbs for awhile now....."feel" them in my lats more.New gym only has DB's to 145# though. Never drop DL's and have the NZL record in the Hercules Hold....... HOWEVER I am absolutely crap on fat bar work. I clean my axle a bit but can't do near what I can with an Oly bar without a mixed grip. HarryB
So I better ditch the straps or I won't have any back development? I would have thought that at worst my forearms might struggle but was sure my back would get overloaded because my training wasn't dictated by how much my tiny weak hands can hold..... damn!!! 20+ years and you guys are just telling me this now!!! Back to the drawing board for me!

Back to the drawing board for me!Lol. I have tiny weak hand too. I agree with you Harry. My theme has been that my forearms etc will fail before my back. So I wear straps. The other issue to consider is form. With straps you can almost use your hands as hooks and focus on pulling with your lats.
