STRONGMAN COMPETITION CALENDAR 2010

This thread is for ALL strongman related competitions "at a glance".

Here are the events that have been either confirmed so far or planned. Events that do not have information are "possible and not confirmed at this stage".

This list will be updated as information comes to hand from organisers: All competitors gain free entry with weigh in 1hr before event start.

COUNTIES STRONGEST MAN 2010

Date: Saturday and Sunday 20th & 21st February

Venue: Pukekohe Showgrounds, Station Rd, Pukekohe.

Events: Events, Day one - 56lbs weight for height,Farmers walk (2x112.5kg),Log lift for max (5 attempts),300kg tyre flip (25mtr) Day 2- Anvil carry (160kg), Hercules hold (2x117kg), apollon axle (100kg for reps,ground to overhead),Stones (99,114,126,139,155kg onto 1.2m barrels).

Prizemoney: Prizemoney down to 5th in each event - 55,40,30,15,10$.

BOYS DAY OUT 2010

Date: Saturday 13th March

Venue: Mystery Creek, Hamilton

Start Time:

Events: 9 tonne truck pull,100kg Apollon bar (100kg) for reps (2 hands anyhow,60 second time limit),Farmers Walk 2x112kg-50m,160kg Anvil Carry,Stones 99,114,126,139,155kg onto 1.2m barrels.

Prizemoney: Prizemoney down to 6th in each event - 60,45,35,20,15,10$.

HAWKES BAY STRONGEST MAN 2010

Date: 4th April

Venue: Easter Highland Games 2010, Lindisfarne College, Hastings

Hawkes Bay’s Strongest Man – Easter Highland Games, Sunday 4 April 2010, Lindisfarne College, Hastings.

Events: Under105kg and Heavyweight Classes - 10-ton truck pull, Overhead Medley (40kg Dumbbell, 75kg stone, 85kg Steel Log, 95kg Axle, 110kg Steel Log), 100 kg Farmers Walk for 50 metres, 117kg Hercules Hold, Caledonian Stones - 80, 90, 95, 120, 155kg

56lb Weight for height, Caber toss, and sheath toss will be run on Saturday 3 April

OTAHUHU INAUGURAL STRONGEST MAN 2010

Date: Saturday 17th April

Venue: Miada Gym, 66 Portage Rd, Otahuhu

Start Time: 11am

Events: Log Press Max Weight (5 attempts), Hercules Hold (2x117kg), Deadlift for Max Reps (U105kg 250kg - O105kg 300kg), Incline Bench Log Press (U105kg 100kg - O105kg 120kg) for Max Reps, Stone for Reps onto 1.2m barrel/platform (U105kg 126kg - O105kg 155kg)

Prizemoney: $200 1st, $150 2nd, $100 3rd, $80 4th, $70 5th, $60 6th, $50 7th, $40 8th, $30 9th, $20 10th (plus bonus 1st U105kg $100).

The AUT Strongman and Powerlifting Club will look at holding some competitions in 2010 similar to those conducted in 2009. These events will allow novice athletes (males and females) a chance to compete, gain experience and hopefully develop into competitive strongman athletes. These comps will focus on events similar to that found in the larger competitions e.g. truck pull, stones, farmers walk, log press, tyre flip etc. Small entry fees e.g. $10-20 might be charged per entry, with prizes also possible. We have club training sessions on most sat mornings at the AUT Gym, Akoranga Drv, Northcote, North Shore City. Contact Justin Keogh on justin.keogh@aut.ac.nz or 027 344 1642 for more details.

Hey Nate, thanks for posting this. I recommend putting these events into our Event Calendar. Not only does that create an "official" topic for each event, it also advertises the event on our front page, complete with countdown timer.
