Poppy19
Thanks for your reply, I have no idea if or when I will actually have the op but you have given me some confidence in my decision for going under the muscle.
bodybyjo
Hi Poppy, I am a trainer and have seen both good results and bad... but the girls who get the operation in NZ recieve far better follow up obviously. I have heard of woman not even being able to retrieve the records from Thailand when repair work is required. I myself couldnt think of anything worse than recovery in a resort. maybe 6 months after the op then you can whoop it up on an islandbut other than that, being home and having the specialist a phone call away is far more reassuring. However over the muscle is easier to recover from than under. For competitors, then under the muscle - under definately... slightly more complicated operation but worth it.. Auckland specialist Casry Mellows - Reconstructive surgeon. 37 Greenlane Road East... 523 0573.Just to give you an indication of time recovering my personal experience is operation... 8.30am - out of day surgery 4pm - ( you can choose to stay overnight) sent home with strong meds in the form of a drip 3 days. drains in for bleeding - average 3 days follow up visits once weekly for the following 2 weeks. Week 3 - back into cardio Week 4-5 - back into light weights, legs, arms, and light back workoutweek 5-6 - back into all muscle groups, heavy lower body, upper body - high reps, not too heavy and given clearance to resume training. It is all over pretty quickly and you will be into training before you know it. Longest it will set you back is 6 weeks. Good luck
Sakura
Excellent, detailed post Jo. Thanks.Do you lift as heavy as pre-op with things like bench presses? Can the implants actually move out of position because of pressure from flexing pecs?
Poppy19
Hi JoThanks for your very informative post. It is great having someone like you sharing your experience and knowledge on the forum. Knowing that heavy lifting will not go out the window completely (although 6 weeks is a long time for me) is very reassuring. Regarding having the procedure done overseas – NO WAY!!!!! I urge any girl considering this to really think it through. Like any surgery there are associated risks, and after care is paramount for your own safety and results. bodybyjo
No definately not as heavy but you would of lost muscle in those four weeks so your body isnt capable of lifting the same weight anyway. Stay with only light weights till you have the all clear with the surgeon concerned... but the weights quickly go up in the following weeks so dont be too concerned about losing muscle and strength. It comes back very quickly when you have the motivation to go with it. Post op do a different form of training, circuit, supersets and trisets etc so that you are not comparing your weights to what you would of done pre-op.. works well with not playing with your mental state I have never myself or had clients who have had any trouble with displacement of the implants and obviously all my clients weight train. But they need to be looked after and treated like a gift from god which they are if you werent born with them.. .. so dont go doing prone exercises with heavy dumbells etc cheers Jo

daybyday
I have seen some bad ones done here in NZ. I know of two (I have seen them) that look terrible! Big scars left over from them as well. They were in and out of hospital the same day, I wouldn't really call that after care. Think it was nearly $500 extra per night if they wanted to stay on. I have spoken to a few ladies who have also been to Thailand and they seemed happy (did not see theirs though). They had to stay 10 days after the op just to make sure nothing happened. Also a good family friend had hers done in aussie and she has had a horrible time with them. She had to have all her breast tissue removed in the end. Shes spent a fortune on having them fixed up. At the end of the day depends whether your body accepts or rejects them.
liquid_101
murray beagley (auckland) :: http://www.cosmeticsurgeon.org.nz/ :: this guy reconstructs legs in his spare time - so what he can't do for you - no-one can.. .just a tip - forget working with 'general surgeons' - you want to ensure you see an actual 'breast surgeon' to do the job. its a common mistake and the results are noticeable.. .
