Hey Hrdcre, shame about Lee pulling out of the O but based on his reasons, I can understand why.....however it was good to see another BB from downunder starting to make his mark on the pro scene.... Luke Wood. From the few photos I have seen of him in the Wildcard show he is putting on some mean size since moving to the US, and he is placing well as well...did you catch up with him at the O....do you know what he weighed in at??....

I'mmmmmm Back! Yes, I have finally made it home from Vegas, and in one piece I might add - just!!

I have not been on for a while as I have had a break from the Bodybuilding thing for a couple of weeks (hope you all understand) but I will be posting a full Olympia review within the end of the week, also I see there are some good topics for me to get stuck into as well, so look out for an opinion here and there. You know me, I can't help myself!!

Talking about opinion, got a few views on the NZFBB Nationals that I may just voice sooner or later. Anyhow I will be back real soon but I gotta go spend some time with my family first, so I will see you soon.

Regards HRDCOR

OLYMPIA REPORT

Hi all -

Well, the Olympia huh... yep I was there. I was there early on in the piece actually, got there on the Weds before the show. I stayed at the New Orleans hotel the host hotel, and was privy to a lot of things whilst there in my capacity as a pro bodybuilder-come-fan-come-reporter-come-Lee's buddy. Actually I got all the best seats and got to go to all the events held. All the meetings, the Expo, all the comps and finals, the athletes' dinner, etc. You name it, Hrdcor was not far away!

First the venue and the running of the show itself. The venue was crap, sure it was a big casino (hell, all the casinos in Vegas are big) but it was a mix of old fuddy-duddies and the crazy world that is bodybuilding!! Every freak and muscle head and chick was there. Boy, did I see some crazy sights, ranging from so many guys in cut off tops to chicks with huge synthol-ed arms, and every thing in between. I was in Heaven!!

The Expo was a good 40min drive from the Host Hotel, which was a serious pain in the arse since all the women's prejudging was held at the Expo!! Big mistake!!

I worked at the Expo with lee all day Fri and part day Sat and it just never stopped, signing photos, taking photos, smiling and being nice... shit, we made some money though!!

I went to the athletes' meeting on the Thur night and to be honest not much happened as the IFBB has just to much of a strong hold on the scene over there, and if they want to do nothing they don't have to - it's called a monopoly!!

At the Meet The Athletes events, they weren't going to let Lee in (he was with Adela Miss Figure Olympia, his girlfriend) but we put up a good enough argument that they had to. Lee was the most popular there and he wasn't even competing!

The Promoters threw a hissy fit when they found out Twinlab wanted Lee to present the Olympia prizes, and refused point blank to let him on stage, even when Twinlab threatened to not pay them their 100k next year!!

Ok lets get to the Big show itself!!

At the prejudging I had front row seats with Dexter Jackson, Claude Crolux, Stan McGray and others!!!! So I got a real good view of the prejudging!!

First, when all the guys come out in the beginning and do their compulsory poses on their own, they all look amazing. It is not until you put them side by side to the differences become apparent - except for Ronnie. When he came out on his own everyone around me said, “There we go, Mr Olympia Number 8â€

Wow. Thanks for that, Hrdcor. The insider's view of the Olympia is a side we hardly ever hear.

Are you saying the show was delayed by 3 hours due to technical difficulties?! That's incredible. I'm surprised the competitors and audience didn't walk out! We may grizzle about the running of some shows here, but damn... perhaps we could show them how it's supposed to be done! :D

sounds like it was really cool, heard other reports from people who went and said there were so many supplement reps there and great giveaways and really cheap deals on new supps. It just makes me wish I was there being the supp junky that I am. guess I would have found time to watch the show too but it sounds like it was not the highlight!!

Thanks guys, another thing I noticed at the pre judging was the amount of talking the judges did amongst themselves during the judging process, and the constant whispering in judges' ears by the head judge Jim Manion. I thought that all to be a bit strange myself, but once again I was informed that that happens all the time!
