Unfortunately Tribulus doesn't increase Test in females to much degree. Its main effects will be to increase progesterone and estrogen, trigger ovulation and can increase sodium reabsorption hence increasing water retention.

MichaelK - can you tell me why BSc have red clover in what looks like a test booster. Isn't red clovers main effect on estrogen enhancement hence its use for the treatment of symptoms of menopause.

What about in males, is the effect of using tribbulus higher or justifiable ?

Are there any other test boosters you have found worth their buck.. for men and women ??

The effect of Tribulus on males is the same as in females - an increase in Luteinizing hormone (LH). LH promotes the production of gonadal hormones that effect the function of the gonads (ovaries and testes). In females this triggers ovulation, and promotes production and release of ovarian hormones estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen can have an anabolic effect in females however also stimulates fat deposition and sodium reabsorption so not good for bodybuilding. In males LH stimulates the interstitial cells in the testes to produce testosterone.

Whether or not this translates into any real effect is going to depend on a few variables - the biggest factor being age. An 18 year old will notice jack shit with trib while a 40yo should get a good effect. The effect is all dictated by the users natural hormone levels (Test & free test levels, LH, SHBG levels), how well the body's receptors can handle the LH and the subsequent increase in Test, training and diet, and the potency and quality of the product being used.

Tribulus still seems to be the one product that most supps companies use as far as Test boosters go. There are a few other things that may work, ZMA, eurycoma, vitex agnus castus, fenugreek, acetyl l-carnitine, copper, but these again would only really be of benefit to males.

Women aren't designed to produce high amounts of Test in their body so as far as I am aware there isn't really much alternative other than a synthetic form of Test ie. gear or prohormones. But then, with an increase in Test in women while this may help increase muscle development also comes the negative masculinizing effects, including deepened voice, increased body hair, increased rates of breast cancer and various health issues.

breast cancer....?

There's evidence to suggest that high levels of test is linked to increased rates of breast cancer in women. High Estrogen is the main factor, however Test converts to estrogen in the breast. High levels of other popular BB "supplements" insulin, insulin-like growth factor (ilgf) and GH also increase the risk.

"All of us have male and female hormones in our bodies, and the risk of breast cancer seems to be affected by both. For some time, studies have pointed to estrogen and progesterone as risk factors. But now research from a part of an extremely large European study known as EPIC confirms that high levels of testosterone, usually considered a male hormone, raise a woman’s risk of premenopausal, and possibly postmenopausal, breast cancer.

In a study of breast cancer survivors, those women with testosterone levels in the top third had more than a seven-times greater chance of recurrence than women with levels in the bottom third.

Research also consistently links high levels of the hormone insulin and insulin-like growth factors with increased rates of breast cancer, at least after menopause.

Women with high insulin levels have lower rates of breast cancer survival, too. These women tend to suffer a complex of changes known as the metabolic syndrome, which is characterized by high insulin levels that are less effective at controlling blood sugars. People with this condition tend to have low levels of HDL (“good”) cholesterol, high blood pressure, high blood triglycerides, and a greater risk of diabetes.

Some scientists think that the amount of insulin and insulin-like growth factors in these women stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells. Others suggest that the cancer risk comes from insulin raising testosterone levels." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9267063/
