Bruce Al
The real bad ass of lifting. Anyone actually following the Olympics? Edit: excuse me if there is a thread already.
nate225
I watched a bit of the lighter weight categories, mens & womens. Some absolute beasts! Jono will have seen most of it & can add some informed commentary.
Monarchking
Based in Australia so all the coverage is aussie focus what is a shame. I do remember the story of last Olympics how the NZ team had to win/qualify in a pacific event (I think) to allow one of our boys to go compete. Can Anyone fill in the details of how the bloke had to clean n jerk X amount with a quad tear? im not in the loop with Oly lifters, but it is very impressive. king
Monarchking
Aussie have 2 lifters. 1 male and 1 female. She started Oly lifting from joining a cross fit gym to get into shape, nek min national rep. of course the interview was at the dinner table haha were the bloke had 5-6 kababs in front of him. Have missed all the weightlifting . Monarchking
Pseudonym
I saw a clip of a pretty epic gymnastics routine this morning. I'll see if I can find it again. EDIT: I can't. But it was of a guy doing flips on a high bar, finishing in the most amazing jump and a perfect landing. Very impressive. Also, how about Michael Phelps? 21 gold medals and counting... The American female gymnast Simone Biles is worth watching - unbelievably fast and so technically perfect.
Wookie
Haven't been watching the weightlifting - just following who won. All Things Gym facebook page has the good vids of the winning lifts in each class. And yes- Tevita Ngalu had to clean and jerk 157kg on a torn quad to qualify NZ a spot. Pulled it out on his 3rd attempt. Monarchking
Wookie
Watching the 77's Lu Xiaojun wins the snatch with 177, new world record. Armenian guy dislocates his elbow jerking 195 After missing his 197 opener, Lu nails 197 and 202. Basically forcing anyone to go 214 for the win, close to the world record in the 85's.
