Hey guys I'm Jon.

Just moved to the Auckland area (eastern) from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to live with a friend. I have a working holiday visa and can stay up to a year. Maybe I'll want to stay forever who knows!

5'9", 180lbs, 11% bf right now, approximately. Bench, Barbell Squat and Deadlift.

Went to uni for Exercise Science and graduated with a Bachelors. Certified Health Fitness Specialist too.

Yesterday I went walking all around Auckland and stopped into 6 gyms handing out a CV.

Anyways my friend goes to the simple Jetts gym and it has done me good for my first couple weeks here. BUT IM LOOKING FOR A REAL GYM to call my home, and get huge and shredded in this year while I'm here. I've already kinda got a respectable physique for just your average guy walking around but I'm never satisfied, like everyone else, and I want to be as shredded as the pros. Just a dream I'm chasing.
I've been wanting to compete for a couple years but just have been wanting to go in as my best, and might hope to compete while I'm here if I can make that happen. What amateur federations are out here?????? The main ones in USA are the NPC (amateur) and of course the IFBB. I want to compete in physique or classic golden era type bodybuilding.

I also want to work at a gym! Doing pretty much anything really.

Another question: Before i moved here I googled gyms in Auckland. The Colloseum came up but when I search it on google BTS gym comes up. Is the colloseum a different gym or is BTS a replaced owner/same location?

I've seen Les Mills, Justworkout, cityfitness, the UoA rec center when I was walking around, and jetts. Thats about it. Found some others but they are on the other side of the city so no good.

Seems like the best place to get supps based on my research is nzmuscle.co.uk????  I used bodybuilding.com back in the States and it was the best/cheapest/best service/short shipping time. Whey Protein is way more expensive here I see, even with the conversion of the currency factored in. Oh well!

Glad i found this website!!!   Seems like a good community. Anyone down to get a lift in???

cheers.

Also in regards to bodybuilding feds here, we have too many.

There's NZIFBB, Nabba/Wff, Nabba & INBA. I think that's it but don't quote me on that, I'm a powerlifter lol.

I have no idea in regards to gyms in certain areas of Auckland bro as I don't live there but if you're near Miada, they have two gyms I think, they have good equipment and quite a few big strong dudes train there. Unsure on best gyms for bodybuilding up there though.

For supps:

sprintfit.co.nz, sportsfuelsupplements.co.nz, supplements.co.nz, as well as shotgun as BeastBuilder said. Best thing to do is always check them all out as you may find one supp cheaper on sprintfit and another cheaper on sportsfuel etc. I always google 'discount codes for ________' the relevant site too and you can usually get another 5% or sometimes 10% off from that.

also if the site is run by a bb'er its a good idea to add them on facebook and constantly compliment them and suck up to them to squeeze an extra 5% :p

Hahahaha. Viable option. Good to know I'm getting good whey also then. Get what you pay for, as they say.

Thanks for the feedback. Can't wait to start throwing around the weights once I get situated. NZ is beautiful.

You mean nzmuscle.co.nz and yep, they're great. Also, they sponsor this site so you know they're good peeps as well.

Gyms... I'm not 100%, but I think you might be right that Colosseum is now BTS. Never trained there, so can't tell you what it's like.

Les Mills is pricey, but good for bodybuilders. Shiny, with lots of mirrors!

City Fitness tends to be somewhere between Les Mills and Jetts. Club Physical is another chain with gyms dotted around the place.

Hope that helps, Jon. Welcome to Gymnation! :-)

I tried a free trial at Les Mills Britomart yesterday. Total sausage fest when I first went in but by the time I left and the after work rush came in, holy hell. Some total babes. Boosted my performance far beyond any steroid probably would be able to   :-D

Tons of endless cardio machines, then a rather small weightroom area that got crowded quick. Dumbbells up to 50kg, and only 1 squat rack. Was expecting more. Doable though.

I forgot to mention you cannot find NarLabs anywhere else in the world except NZ (and maybe a few other insignificant countries Thailand, Brazil etc). Great product all the same.

Insignificant countries? i would have careful how you express yourself towards other countries like that, I come from one of those:dry:
