Wookie
No excuses, I missed my squat session this past weekend. Going to deadlift tonight with a 310 puller and do a few quick sets of bench with a comp grip. That would shift squats to Weds before I head to Auckland for a wedding Thurs. Wookie
Mon 11/4 Was meant to be squats. 2 days after my max dead session it was never going to be amazing. Deads 5*140, 2*190, 2*220, 2*240, 2*270.. m*285. - barely felt 270 but 285 got stuck below knee. Having pulled 290 last session I wasn't fazed. 1*260 Sumo 2*200, 1*260, 3*220 Sounds terrible, but might see how this goes given it may solve my issues off the floor. Bench To 3*165 - we'll call this a PB. Didn't feel great and yet it went up. DB Bench 8*55, 8*45, 8*45 paused
Wookie
Sumo it is. I'm going to give it a crack.

Very much a close grip though. 5kg in the tank.

soundsgood
What's the plan if you fail a rep on bench Mr jandals and no spotter lol
Wookie
Ha... No collars and drop it near belly button from sticking point. Then sit up. No collars so can ditch it sideways too. Wife usually stands by incase. I guess...no fails allowed! Going to join Zenith most likely.
Wookie
19/4 Skwot 8*70 5*70 3*160 1*230 6*260- 8.5-9 RPE. 8 reps would have been a massive grinder if possible. Belt no wraps. Not a PB but getting there. Should have done 250 but wanted extra intensity 8*230- 9 RPE #Rekt Didn't do more as want to deadlift and possibly clean soon. soundsgood

But the sets I do I want to make count. Those 2 sets counted. When I did 350 in 2m wraps I did: 8*260, 5*300 in wraps, 8 sets speed reps, 350 over the course of 4 weeks. soundsgood
I have a feeling you will squat much more than 350 this time around. That's some good numbers bro

Wookie
21/4 First overheads in 5 months. Got some goals. Strict Press 8*70 5*70 Plate presses and stuff cause I'm getting old and need warm up. Push press 5*70 3*100 2*130 1*150 1*160 1*170 5*130 3 powerclean with 120 reracking. Lol. Happy with that. Oh...and did it on grass. Not the 4/20 kind.
soundsgood
lol yep there was a time I could just walk into a gym a lift, now it's at least 15 min mobility and stretching plus 5 warmup sets haha 170 push press sounds extremely high. I have no idea where this sits with your PBs though. That's more than your log right?
Wookie
185 push press with a very close miss at 190. 175 log. Sadly only 165 in comp. My log is usually 20kg down on my split jerk with a bar. PB there 210 though it was 190 for a 170 log, 180 for 160 etc.
soundsgood
Split jerk 210 ? How good at oly lifting are you bro There wouldn't be many guys who have done that in NZ ever would there
maccaz
i think your log would be up there with the aussies too? i thought 160-170 was considered very very good over here, like top level. but maybe its more of a sport in nz? dunno
soundsgood
Funny how kiwis keep going over and winning the Aussie strongest man comps maccaz
BeastBuilder
That's some fucking insane weight overhead.. jeez.... Mirin hard lol. Coming from a povo overhead presser for what it's worth but strong as in anyone's book. Maybe when you do GPC Nats sub in Split Jerk for Bench ? Lol surely no one would complain, until they saw your numbers at least Wookie
Wookie
Best log in Aussie is 182.5 then 170. My best axle is 182.5, I think same as best over there. As for weightlifts, I know John Bolton did 227.5 off the rack, Nigel Avery did a 225 CJ. I lost 220 on recovery so 210 is PB. My problem is I was hampered by a shoulder injury. I don't have it anymore. My PB snatch was a power snatch at 137.5 which was hugely painful. I snatched 135 last year after 2 sessions, and wasnt nearly as strong as before. I could have snatched 150 comfortably without the injury. The big problem is benching and snatching dont go well together so I have to be very careful if I do snatch. My best clean is 200. My rule was if I could clean it in training and jerk it off the rack, I could clean and jerk it in competition. I never tried the two together at 200. So yeah, this is what I mean when I say I'm not a powerlifter. My goal for the year is a super total - squat, bench, deadlift, snatch, clean and jerk. soundsgood
soundsgood
Any idea of goals then assuming all done on the same day at Nats 365/190/320/135/190 - 1200? Danny Nemani did an impressive Super Total back in 2011 280/170/260/150/170 - 1020kg Sleeves, touch n go bench and wrist straps on deadlift

Light wraps. 320/190/280 151/180 -1121 Dunno what I'd do... we'll see. I think I could snatch 140 or more and go 185+ cj with some work. No idea re deadlift yet.
