Skeletor
Thought id best start another log on here seeing as i spend so much time on the internet.A little bit about me for those who dont know me. Was 59kg about 4 years ago and got real sick from heavy drinking and smoking so quit. Started weight training in a bodybuilding style and shot up to 72kg fairly quickly which would be my natural weight . Fell off a roof 2 and a half years ago compressing my heel bone into my foot and fracturing it. Drs said i wouldnt lift heavy on it agin and ankle would most likely need fusing . But none of that happened so lucky as hell and i started powerlifting about a year and a half ago once i could hold weight on it again. Now i love it although i put work first always but its my definite passion . Age 35Weight 83-84.5kg Current p.bs Squat 230kg raw . Pause Bench 155kg. Deadlift 260kg.(updated september 2015)Feel as though i can definately pass the deadlift after 240kg x 4 with a 5th rep probably possible last week and could probably hit a decent 155 to 160 bench to. Maybee still around the 220kg mark for squats as havent gone over 210 for 2 in a while now. Following a progressive program where i do all three lifts on the same day twice a week with varying rep ranges increasing by 2.5kg a week . There was a third day which i have found to much volume on my lower back so it has become a day for assistance or heavier singles or doubles directly related to the main lifts. Ill train back after the main workouts and arms , forearms and shoulders where i can on a how im feeling basis with shoulders taking priority. Dont follow a strict clean diet or anything although i do try sometimes. Todays workout was as followsDeadlifts 207.5kg x 5 sets of 5. First few sets were beltlessSquats 162.5kg x 4 sets of 8. Alternated between high and low barBench 130kg x 2 sets of 7. Fairly easy workout . Fridays workout was as followsSquats 180kg x 5 sets of 5 All high barDeadlifts 180kg x 6 sets of 3 speed, BeltlessBench 115kg x 4 sets of 8 Felt sick after this for some reason but went ok. maccaz
Nice. Will follow. Do you think you will ever compete in PL?
Skeletor
I've always wanted to just to see if the pressure of being on stage makes me lift more or not but I'm one of those people that when I do get up in front of a crowd faints lol. It could only ever be local comps anyway as I have contracts with work I need to be around for. Pretty happy just lifting in the gym . Must be a cool feeling to place top 3 in a comp though
maccaz
sweet bro yeah could always just find a local novice comp or even push/pull or something, will only take a day max out of your time which will be on a weekend so shouldnt interrupt work too much. tbh the atmosphere alone and meeting people etc is worth it even if you lift shit on the day its good as fun and good experience Skeletor

Bruce Al
Sweet. Going to follow this, as someone who is a few kgs heavier than you, you make me feel weak by having lifts ranging 30-50 kgs heavier than mine. How tall are you?
Skeletor
Sweet. Going to follow this, as someone who is a few kgs heavier than you, you make me feel weak by having lifts ranging 30-50 kgs heavier than mine. How tall are you?Cheers bro. I'm only 170 cm. Borderline hobbit lol. Today was my do what I wanna do day apart from on bench so I kept the volume right down and did beltless squats up to 200kg x 4, 210kg x 1, then a 220kg single with belt on and back to 200kg again. By the feel of the 220 I'd say I'd have got another 10- 17.5kg had I gone all out. All squats were high bar and had planned to do low bar also but wanna keep recovery right up. Finished with the planned pause bench of 130kg x 5 sets of 5. Think I didn't pause most of last set though but still feeling good and strength steadily climbing. Skeletor
Just a bit of benching today. Worked in sets of 5 up to a set of 5 at 140kg. 1 rep at 145kg and a very slow negative on the 150kg rep. Pushing up was fine but biceps were a lil tense so wasn't keen to bring it down faster. Was gonna work up to a 155 first then do the 140 x 5 but did it backwards just to feel bad ass. Couple of sets of wide grip lat pulldowns and couple of sets of machine rows and I was done. Skeletor
Did sweet f all in the gym today. Bench was my only option due to my lower back and glutes being completely cramped up last night after working on a steep as hell roof all day. I did my required 5 x 5 at 132.5kg and then pumped out some high rep bicep curls and left. Missing my regular deep tissue massages I used to get when I get this busy. They are as painful as hell but help immensely if they know how to do it right.
Skeletor
Squats and speed deads today.Wasn't really feeling like training but new I had to so went in and just did the required sets as followsSQUATS.....185kg x 5 sets of 5. I kind of rushed the reps on the first few sets and made it harder for myself than need be but on the 4th and 5th I paused between each rep and also took a wider than usual stance which seemed to benefit me as these last 2 sets felt smooth bar the last rep of course which is always a grind no matter what set. I may try widening stance just slightly in future. Finished with speed deads x 6 sets of 3 at 185kg and did beltless for a couple. No accessories today. Realtalk
I hate training after driving. Sometimes I drive tga to Auckland and back same day if I train the night I feel like I gonna pull something once I have. Might be in my head but just think in that sitting position for a long time. I thought it was just a once off thing but have noticed it everytime I spend a lot of time driving.
Skeletor
Realised I stuffed up last night . I was supposed to do 5 x 5 at 212.5kg not 210kg. Did that last week so whole workout ruined. Today I did some squats and the mrs cleared the shed out so set up and did some ssb squats tonight.Squats was 3 sets of 8 at 167.5kg. Did some laying leg curls and weighted hypers to finish. Tonight I chucked some plates on the ssb bar and did sets of 3 at 160kg. Easy but it's a different feel and I felt a lot more unstable around midsection than I am used to. Although that could be fatigue from deads last night and squats today. Also now have access to my Getstrength GHD so will bring these in as assistance. It's just been stuck behind a heap of Fire flue kits so couldn't use it.
