Pseudonym
We're giving $1000 worth of Horleys supplements to one lucky guy and girl - that's $500 each! Just show us 5 reps of your best overhead press, and you're in the draw. And here's the cool bit... you get one entry for every kilogram you press. So the more you press, the better your odds - but everyone's in with a chance! PLUS we're giving away boxes of Horleys Carb Less bars each week as spot prizes too - so get your entries in asap! Here's how it works...Video yourself, show the weights on the bar, and say "Gymnation Overhead Press Challenge 2015" and your Gymnation username. Your overhead press must be 5 reps using strict form - locked knees, pushing the bar from below the chin up to straight arms with elbows locked out. You cannot use your legs to generate momentum. Upload your video to YouTube or Facebook (make sure it's publicly shared), and post the URL in this topic. Please include your bodyweight, and the amount of weight you've pressed. You may submit as many videos as you like - we'll take whichever is your best press and gives you the most entries. Competition closes on Sunday 28th June, and is subject to the usual terms and conditions. Winners get to choose whatever Horleys supplements they like, up to $500 RRP. Good luck! jimmybro1 and ThreeWhiteLights
Spacebound
Is there a standard camera angle we should use? Also does each rep have to touch the top of the chest or just within an inch of it? Will give this a go, even though ill get wrecked
Realtalk
I don't make the rules however a front on full body video will be a good angle so everyone can see the elbow lock out and the knees are locked. The barbell needs to come below your chin at least. FULL ROM.$500 is a lot of prize, very generous. so expect strict but fair judging. It's only 5 reps so its important they are quality reps. Realtalk
Nah touch and go and just below chin. Full lockout though..Yeah I agree. It's not a competition for who can have the strictest form. We only need a few simple rules. Locked knees, bar below chin, and elbow lock out.Keep it simple more people are likley to enter I'll do my first entry tommorow. You guys should put as many videos up as you can tryna beat your last there are prizes each week if you got no video up you can't win.Cheeee hoooo! soundsgood
Thanks manIt's not really an exercise I've ever really done, more of a seated db or barbell press guyI think I was doing standard bench press grip here, is Closer grip is better?I will give 120kg x 5 a whirl in a few days I think
Skeletor
Yeah I don't know either, I thought you'd know what's best lol. I was using slightly in from my bench grip. I've started these a couple of weeks ago with the aim of increasing my bench.
bang_bang
Haven't done any overhead pressing for about two years but thought I'd give it a go because I benched 180 earlier in the week so was feeling pretty confident. Got 60x5 easy, chucked 80 on and didn't get one haha. ThreeWhiteLights
