soundsgood
Benched last nightWorked up to 200kg then went for a touch n go 220kgGood power off the chest, got half way up and couldn't finish it off. Going to have a play with hand spacing and try and push thru that sticking pointDropped back down to 200kg and went for a triple but was gassed from the 220 so only got a double Dropped back to 180 and did sets of 6 Incline DB press with the 60s for 15 -20 repsIncline DB flies with 34kg DBsForearms were flaring up so left it there Had really bad lower back pain last night, this morning. Nurefen is helping but spine feels really compacted. Deadlifts will be fun tonight

soundsgood
Strongggggg bench!! How's your elbow/forearms? Wayne Bennett, Geordie Shields and Darren Farrow all leapfrogged my bench last weekend bro! Good though, its given me heaps of motivation to get it up there. 227.5/500lb is the goal this year. If you can bench 500 you are a good bencher I reckon. Have finished my cruise and into my blast now so shit should start happening as long as I don't break myself lol Forearms are actually heaps better now I wear those elbow sleeves while training. Still hurt heaps when I throw the 60kg Dumbbells up for incline presses or shoulder presses though. In fact anything overhead they still ache like a bitch. The wider overhand grip on squats is helping though. Out of all my lifts they would hurt the most on squats so Im glad Ive sorted that out

soundsgood
It sure is bro Jimmybro! Even though Nats and Worlds are the big comps Im aiming to peak for I don't believe in tokening, just get in and do as much as you can. You'll lift what you lift. Excuses are for the weak!Judging from where Im at at the moment I think I might clip 850 at Waikatos or get pretty close anyway

It's like what we talked about with the deadlifts and now the bench press that were broken at Arnold's just makes u want to beat it. Competition is a great tool to better ourselves. It's also really exciting that we are getting a number of guys getting close to elite totals in gpc and capo all at the same time. Makes for great motivation, competition and friendly rivalry. ngapuhi strong
at what point do you think added body weight wont help with your lifts any more?is there a formulsr or is it very individual
soundsgood
More muscle mass will always help you lift more, and fat mass will give you a bit more leverage sure but only to a point. Im going to play with it and see what happens man
maccaz
at what point do you think added body weight wont help with your lifts any more?is there a formulsr or is it very individual look at strongmen etc, Eddie Hall deadlift 462kg the other day, Bene Magnusson 461kg, Hafthor bjornsson etc, i don't know much about strongman/ etc but these guys are all 150+ kg and don't think their body weight is holding them back much! 150 kg should be stronger than 120kg regardless of fat i reckon (obviously not counting non lifting obese 150kg)
soundsgood
For most people under 6 foot I reckon 130kg is about as big as you would want to get before diminishing gains sets in
FUBU
Pretty solid and heavy lifts going on here. Don't think I've ever seen anyone at my gym lifting that heavy. Very awe-inspiring man.
HarryB
You pretty much won't see anyone lifting the shit this guy lifts day in and day out anywhere. He's crazy.... I for one blame the pre workouts
soundsgood
Last heavy squat session before Waikato Champs in under 2 weeksWorking sets - 3 sets of 280kg x 3 repsfinished on 1 x 310kg bodyweight 120.4kg Opening at 305/310kg then go from there I hope I can hit a good squat on the day (335-340 would be a pass) but more focused on bench and dead going up this comp
soundsgood
Benched tonightWas feeling pretty strong in warm ups but forearms were feeling starting to give me a bit of painLoaded up 210kg and went for a doubleAs soon as i unracked it I knew I was in for trouble. They were screaming at meDid 1 rep then racked itBacked off to 180kg and did 7 reps before giving up the session. I would give it a solid 7/10 pain rating. It just takes over everything and throbs.Got a few tricks to try. Optimass has recommended trying no wrist wraps which makes sense as it would reduce the swelling. Im going to load up on ibuprofen and use anti flame pre workout which used to help last year. Also this was the first time I have ever benched with a belt. It kept my midsection tight so no back cramps. Next time I will let it out a notch so I can really get a good core extension

soundsgood
Bought some new Kiwi-strength Camo wrist wraps last night. They are awesome. Stretch heaps so they are tight but they have like a felt layer on the inside so remain comfortable. Highly recommended!Benched 200 for a paused triple Went for 220. Got quarter way up and bailed as my pec was feeling super tight so didn't want to push it Hurt my back attempting 300kg deadlift on the weekend which I didnt get. Back has been in more pain than usual. The arching on the bench caused heaps of pain in my lower back so went to gp this morning and got referral to sport specialist. He had a look and sent me for X-rays. Xray showed no bulging discs and alignment was okay but there's obviously an issue so booked in for MRI on Thursday. Here's my 200 x 3 bench, sorry it's so dark
