Squat hip pain... possible torn hip flexor?

Hey guys,

Injured my hip mid-November - coming out of a squat during a training session had a shooting pain from the outside of my right hip, which went down into my leg.
Weight wasn't overly heavy but the squat was quite deep - walked around on it for a bit and the pain subsided, but by the time I got home I couldnt actually lift my leg off the ground.
Competed at the BBro that weekend with the help of some anti-inflammatories, then got myself into physio the next week who felt it was most likely a torn hip flexor and advised no squats for 4-5 weeks.

Fast-forward almost 8 weeks on and after numerous physio and massage sessions things have improved but still have niggly pain.

Had my first decent go at a squat today and the minute I get to parallel or below I get a stinging, stabbing pain on the front of my hip.
Normally I squat with quite a wide stance so have tried narrowing this which helps a bit, but still quite painful.

Interestingly enough no issue when doing front squats.

Going to try and get into the doctor this week to see if we can figure out whats really going on, but in the meantime has anyone had anything similar??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - no squatting is driving my crazy! :-(

definitely dont try push though pain or whatever. just train other shit til its sorted. i used to enjoy doing squats but yeah its a stupid/dangerous and pointless excercise really IMO

Lol wut? it's the most "functional" (I hate that word) exercise you can do with the most relavance to sports compared to any other exercise. So many variations of the squat. It's great maaaaate.
