Leeroid
I've been researching about shoulder joint issues and my symptoms seem to be in line with a condition known as Distal Clavicle Osteolysis or "Weightlifter's shoulder", due to it's prevalence among the weightlifting community. Anyway, reason I'm posting is because it says that surgical treatment involves cutting off the affected end of the clavicle. However, people that persist through the pain without surgery will in a way perform 'self surgery' because the repeated trauma will break off the bone, similar to the surgical procedure and the bone will be absorbed by the body. So I was wondering whether anyone here has had severe shoulder pain which they simply worked through and found that it got better eventually as a result of the above?I'm going to go see the physio about my shoulder anyway and get it treated but was just curious. AZIDE
wouldnt say 'severe' pain but ive had pretty sore shoulders and found that taking a couple of weeks off pressing and shoulder excercises helps heaps. my shoulders click/grind multiple times when lifting arm up in a side raise type movement. maccaz
i reckon it could be a whole lot of different things, and wishful thinking that it may be this certain condition that will fix itself, but never know, could get lucky!pay to get an expert opinion if you havent already
Dinahlady
More than 9 times out of 10 "just keep going" or "push through the pain" is probably not good advice. you could be the less than 1/10 but theres no way of knowing for sure. Physio and trying to get refered to a specialist asap would be the best bet.
Riccardo
Lol the chances of you having osteolysis is extremely small especially considering the other more likely things it could be, don't self diagnose. What are your symptoms. It's more likely you are suffering some acromial impingement or other AC joint damage. Although using some ancillaries may pre dispose you to osteolysis I doubt it. See a doctor not a physio and rest it.
