danellaj
Heres a question for the gents Have any of you used bio identical testosterone from a pharmacy coumpounder? I know its a more natural way of taking it with less "swings". I dont know if this is the right place to ask but thought i would anyway. What kind of changes did you see - not just in the gym but overall in your moods and energy levels, libido especially? I just wanted some real life experiences to put hubbys mind at ease that hes not going to turn into a crazed raging maniac or something. He has very low test and we want a baby and well ya'll can figure out the rest....
Riccardo
Boo identical testosterone is a bit of a misnomer but anyway hormone replacement therapy is unlikely to help you conceive, in fact it may just do the opposite. That is assuming we are talking about male factor infertility here. My advice would be to see the fertility associates or another fertility specialist. If it is your hubby's sex drive that is getting in the way of conceiving then yeah testosterone is great but may not be the answer to the problem. Have you seen an endo? Or GP? I need some more information. Testosterone patches will not raise testosterone high enough to cause any real negative side effects so long as you use them as prescribed. For that, some form of GnRH therapy would be needed to induce endogenous testosterone production and spermatogenisis.. This may be only a tempory measure to ensure fertilization: Hormonal therapy of male hypogonadism.Matsumoto AM.SourceDepartment of Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle.AbstractThe goals of hormonal treatment of male hypogonadism depend upon the stage of sexual development in which gonadal failure occurs. Androgen replacement therapy is used to induce and maintain normal secondary sexual characteristics, sexual function, and behavior in prepubertal boys and men with either primary or secondary hypogonadism. Parenteral testosterone esters, testosterone enanthate or cypionate, are the most effective, safe, practical, and inexpensive androgen preparations available for this purpose. They are the treatment of choice for androgen replacement therapy. A recently approved scrotal transdermal testosterone system provides an alternative to testosterone esters in selected patients. In boys or men with secondary hypogonadism, gonadotropin or GnRH therapy may be used instead of testosterone therapy to stimulate endogenous testosterone production. Because of their greater expense and complexity, however, these modalities are usually reserved for men with gonadotropin deficiency who desire fertility and in whom spermatogenesis must be initiated and maintained. Gonadotropin therapy is begun with hCG alone. In men with partial or previously treated gonadotropin deficiency, or in men with postpubertal hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, hCG treatment alone may be sufficient to stimulate spermatogenesis and fertility. In most men with prepubertal hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, however, combined treatment with hCG plus hMG is needed to initiate sperm production and fertility. Pulsatile GnRH therapy may be used to stimulate testosterone production and spermatogenesis in men with secondary hypogonadism who have hypothalamic defects, such as idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism or Kallmann's syndrome.http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7705324.. Leeroid
Exogenous testosterone lowers FSH which is responsible for spermatogenesis. So he will be pumping globs of semen that has no sperm in it. Hardly ideal for making a baby
