Just so u guys know, optimass is sponsored by bsc. Just sayin

Just so you know - no Im not :)

I purchase all my products from BSc Direct - the only product I don't pay for is K-Os.  BSc do not make a habit of out right sponsorship in New Zealand for Powerlifiters or Bodybuilders.  They do sponsor a few - but alas I am not quite the mainstream athlete market.  They have also been burnt in the past by athletes that dont perform or hold condition, offer help and support at events and generally dont give anything back to the brand.  Perhaps one day with the work I do do with them they will consider it - I would be pleased for sure.  I would also consider sponsorship from another brand like Horleys.  But I could represent a brand that I felt was not up to standard.

If I was sponsored why would I make entry into an online transfrmation competition sponsered by a competitor?  This is because I really rate Horleys as a brand.  I used to own a health club and nutrition supplement retail outlet.  I chose to sell Horleys and PVL as a base because I wanted a high end powder that was locally produced with a sports focus and a mainstream suite of products from an international brand.  Both products did especially well.  But I made a point of learning about each brand and how it was produced in order to ensure my clients were getting exactly what I was teaching them and telling them.

I choose to buy BSc also because I have known Michael Kingsnorth for some time and out of respect for him and the the fact he had the nuts to buy the rights to distribute here in NZ despite having a very successful marketing, sales and pt career and a very young family - still took the risk.  I prefer to support people like that.  Changing brands to BSc was easy because of the profile it has in Australia and that they have the same approach to suppkementation that horleys does.  If its not scientifically and functionally proven - they don't do it.  They also put a lot of work into testing their product for quality, effectiveness and compliance.  The extra $$ I pay over a lower % protein powder and for the sake of a few serves is small compared to the fact I have had what I would call optimal results from using them.

LAst few weeks for example - I did an exhibition deadlift and bench session in Matamate for Evolve fitness - I had been intermitant carb depleting for 3-4 weeks and on this particular day had not had any carbs for 2 days - I loaded in the morning and then took my K-OS shot when we turned up - 15 minutes later I benched 200kg clean and then deadlifted 290kg despite dropping 7kg in the last 6 days and not doing a deadlift for about 4 weeks.  It works - worth it - yes

:)

My bad, Opti. The way you push BSc and put their product at the intro of your videos made it look as if you were sponsored by them.

But is receiving free preworkout not a form of sponsorship? Albeit a minor one.

I'm not doubting your reviews of the products, I just think that people should know about any affiliations so they can take what they read with a grain of salt.

People always have hidden agendas and motives this is the supplement industry it's competitive business, people needa push their shit that's only way it'll sell. Anyone will say something is good where there is benefit to them for doing so and of course they won't admit to it as that just weakens the substance of there opinion on it. We saw the exact thing happen on here with ug aas brands that's why mentioning that is no more.

The capo competitions are sponsered by bsc or that is one of the sponsors.

i know how it all works and it's all good. Bsc has good products, they are over priced though for what you get going on a purely nutritional profile basis IMO. Taste is completely personal.

If you use bsc or horleys then good for you if you use fonterra whey then good for you too. If you use dymatize or gaspari then sorry for you lol

Is all good bro - receiving a pre-workout is hadly a sponsorship when there are athletes in bodybuilding recieving clothing, meals and $300 - $500 a month in supplements.

I want powerlifters to be seen on the same platform in this respect so yeah - Im trying to build a brand you might say.  IMO I think they are a more marketable platform as for the most part supplementation is as much about improving performance, not just being lean.

Affiliations aside does 20 years of experience as a sports nutritionist and personal trainer, with a specialisation in strength, body recomposition and supplementation become dilluted by the fact that I recieve product (not just from BSc) from suppliers - i guess that grain of salt is as big as you add merit to it? :)  --- (not said to impress you all but to impress upon you, that its widely known I have been around for a while but that wasn't the first thing that ws pointed out - it was the perception I was a sponsored athlete :) )

RT summed the supplement industry very well ...

CAPO are currently sponsored by Nutratech I believe.  BSc was involved initially with K-Os being the ambassador product, then it was Supplementzone ... then it was .. Reactiv Supplements ....

Dymatize: Not my first choice - but powders mix very well in a shaker and they did a choc mint flavour that was off the hook.  I never trusted the label though based on the powder tasting so sweet and clamining to be only 2g sugar.

Gaspari another similar import brand - not very popular in cricket and some powerlifitng circles lately :D ... but as you basically put it RT - the consumer is very much open to suggestion and lurred easily in mainstream markets by price.

However, there are tiers to the market - competitive to elite athletes are a small catchement of the general suplement industry - they are also the most loyal - especially whe it comes to results, quality, brand perception and testing.  Some of the brands you see on the shelves of your local sup store are not nessisarily chasing the mainstream gym goer because that guy will cut and run to save $5 - there are brands out there doing extremely well in the high end performance market.

Good topic all :)
