Beanbags
Hey guys. Wondering If you could help me. I'm 23. And a male and I have huge stretchmarks on my stomach. I hate going to the beach or swimming because I don't want people to see them because they are so big. They are about 10-15 cm each. Was wondering what the best way to recover them. I'm aware they might not go away completely but just want them to match the same color as my skin so people don't look at me. Thank you for reading Beanbags
Dinahlady
Hi, there isn't much you can really do about them. The stretching happens very very deep under the skin and you can't really get anywhere close to that to have much of an effect (unfortunately)If it is from being heavier and you have lost weight they just take time and then they will fade and turn white rather than red/purple. If it is from gaining weight and you are still that weight then losing some of the weight might help and they will probably seem less apparent as you lose the weight, then after some time they will disappear. It depends how long it will take but it could be <1 year to up to a couple of years for them to turn white/pale.I think they disappear faster if you lose weight rather than staying the same weight/bf but they will still fade after a longer time (i think) if you dont lose any weight. If its from gaining muscle then obviously you dont really wanna "lose muscle" to get rid of them - but again they might take a bit longer to disappear/fade. (but you said its on tummy so presuming its not that). Using some moisturising creams might slightly help but they really cant get that deep into the skin to fix or heal anything so don't spend a lot of money on special creme for stretch marks imo. People say bio oil "helps" but I think thats only for prevention when you are pregnant, once they have happened they have happened and you can't do anything about them other than wait for them to heal and try not have that much more pressure going through the skin with stretching from bodyfat volume. if anything just get a standard moisturiser, i think that keeping the area hydrated can cosmetically make the skin look better and more even - which might help you feel better about them. At the end of the day heaps of people have them and its about how you feel about them. Noone at the beach is really looking at you and caring about your body - they are more concerned about themselves and how they look. And if they do care then they are obviously an a-hole. So try not to worry. if you are confident and happy with your body then people wont notice or care as much as if they can tell you are hiding away.I have some from gaining some weight, they are fading now and I just think they are my "stripes" from the things I have been through - I'm a better/stronger/smarter person than before I had them and I'm glad ive been through the things I have - so they don't upset me I also have faded ones from when I was a teenager/puberty and they took a year or so to fade and are barely noticable (and obviously I didnt get smaller after that). So whatever happens they should go.Just from my experience and a small amount of research ive done.
Kalidane
Hitting the sunbed will reduce the contrast and thus the visibility/appearance of the marks. I got a couple when I first started squats and they started out white and haven't changed much in two years. As DinahLady says there isn't a whole lot to be done about them, only how you think about them.

mrgeeky
I notice no one has mentioned lazer treatment or plastic surgery? Surely they are other options?. http://www.shapiroplasticsurgery.com/surgical-procedures/body-contouring/abdomen/plastic-surgery-for-stretch-marks.php http://stretchmarkremovalreview.org/pros-and-cons-of-stretch-mark-removal-surgery/ Just a quick google shows getting a tummy tuck will help to correct stretch marks so if by chance you have lost a lot of weight quickly and have loose skin as well? You could kill two birds with one stone and get a holiday in Thailand while your at it?http://triadestinationbeauty.com/tummy-tuck-bangkok/
Andre01
Ive got all of mine from gaining all my fat, now Ive lost the weight I wear them with pride and a reminder that I no longer weight 130kgs (6 years ago) of 'fat'. Yes there is surgery but it is expensive and it only reduces the scar. Its actually more trouble than its worth. I have seen the surgery and the results, hence I am very happy to keep mine. BTW I'm male as well and 30 years old.

Matt84
Hmm, stretch marks tend to be more of a problem for the person with them than for anyone else. I don't think I've ever been on a beach and noticed them on someone else and I certainly wouldn't find them unattractive. But any kind of oil is good, try coconut or almond, also, aloe vera is great on scars. Polo
They will fade with age, I have the same thing around my armpit but there red and almost discolour the skin. Try bio oil but keep using it day and night
