jimmybro1
09/12 Week 3 - Recovery Back/biceps/abdominals Lat pull-down 5x16 Neutral grip lat pull down 5x16 Horizontal cable row 5x20 Dumbell curl 5x12 Hammer curl 3x12 Hanging leg raises 4x16 Did have much of a headache this workout had moments of dizziness lack of coordination though. Seeing the neurologist Friday this week and single appointment costs $450 which is ridiculous. Medical insurance will only cover $110, pretty shit time of the year to be forking out that kind of money. Bit of the fence about the appointment, been to specialist before and don't seem like the cost of an appointment reflects the quality. Hoping to get some answers with just a single appointment and MRI or some kind of scan as medical insurance will cover that 100%. Its also been three weeks since the injury and still got to be super careful with the pressure I put in my head. I picked a 22kg dumbell off the floor last night and felt like I was on the edge of fainting. The same kind of feeling you get when deadlifting heavy and almost blacking out. jimmybro1
Update Yesterday afternoon my MRI results came back normal. So no evidence of irregularities in brain structure or any asymmetric features of the brain. Good news! Also no visible sign of blood clotting. This means the vision issues and headaches are due to a "Exertion Headache" with possibility some form of Aura Migraine nested with it. The exertion headache likely occurred due to poor hydration, valsalva maneuver, increased heart rate and lack of sleep. Lack of hydration thickens the blood making it harder to pump (greater resistance). When squatting I was using the valsalva maneuver to brace my core, upper back my blood pressure would have increased dramatically in combination with thicken blood this would have caused forced dilation expansion of the blood vessels in my brain putting pressure on the small nerves in the brain. In my case the blood vessels that were experiencing forced dilation expansion beyond thresholds would have been behind my right eye. This giving me the constant pain, and reason why vision was affected as the optic nerve would have experienced some tumor. Moving toward I'm going to give extra attention to hydration before a heavy training session. I normal drink 4-6 liters of water a day. However this particular workout was around midday so I had not drunk much before training. Also the neurologist suggested aspirin supplementation before heavy sessions to thin the blood to prevent forced dilation occurring . But supplementing with aspirin regularly is advised against as when discontinuing the therapy a rebound effect occurs.

It this the blood I think similar to aspirin but with lots of health benefits. That's why u have to stop taking it before surgery

jimmybro1
Being a while since logging. Got a away during the Christmas up north to enjoy the sun with my not so sun loving welsh skin! Was rocking the SPF50+ on a daily! Didn't have to many opportunities to train (gyms closed) but didn't plan too. However a few training's here and there were done which consisted of pull-ups, and push-ups mostly. Focus at the moment is on the posterior chain and hamstrings. Something I really want to develop more. As of this week I started leg compound movements again obviously quite light. Its just an area the project manager suggested, want to be within 20 minutes of where site is in Truganina. Is there any public transport in these areas to the city? Missus will need some way of getting there for work.

Missus will need some way of getting there for work. inb4 this becomes melbourne public transport thread but, there is a train that stops in werribee, not one to truganina i dont think, suburbs round there that are good for public transport are: (in order from furtherest to closest to city so closer to top of list less of a drive for you to work, but longer train ride to city) Werribee Williams Landing Hopper Crossing Laverton Altona Westona Seaholme Newport Spotswood Yarraville Seddon Footscray train costs round $3.60 each way for city from where you will be, so $7.20/day, not so bad, its a cultural experience on train too, i often get to enjoy drunken aboriginal demonstrations public transport gets boring quick and drags out the working day so i would recommend looking for work aroudn where you live first, then look out from there towards city etc. tbh id live in werribee if i were you, a lot of new build houses up for rent, cheap because its far from city, but nice places. I would say you could get a room or even a whole house for similar price to what you would pay in hamilton, or a bit more. m8 shes halfway to geelong you will even get to see dead kangaroos on freeway jimmybro1

Going ahead with the GPC bench and beach competition next weekend. Might not be my best performance but definitely going to be the best I can be considering. Just glad I am back at what I love doing, moving some tin! Plans for the competition are to open on 135kg then 142.5kg for a second attempt will be happy with this. Depending on how 142.5 moves might do a second attempt. Don't want to risk anything though its only been 10 weeks since exertion headache. Goal this year interms of lifting is to get a 170kg tng bench press and a 165kg competition press. Really want that 180 though but probably not so realistic. I went over at Christmas a couple of years ago. Mexico (well, the Yucatan peninsula at least) is cave diving mecca. So I didn't travel widely - basically found the caves, and stayed there! But we did visit some of the ruins, which are very cool indeed. The man you want to speak to about Mexico is @Cameron_R. You have do to Cuba while you're there. Mexico was awesome, but 5 days in Cuba blew my mind. jimmybro1
Cameron_R
I lived there for just under 3 years. You will only get kidnapped if you're a) the son of an American Senator b) fucking rich and you show it off like an idiot c) involved in the drug trade, or d) completely stupid, and do stuff like drive at night through cartel controlled areas on back roads Otherwise it's safe for people like you an me. Just keep your wits about you, like you would in any 2nd world / 3rd world country where there is petty crime like pick pocketing. The reason your Texan mate wants to talk you out of it is (in my guess) a) he's american, so is shit scared of travelling out side of the USA, and b) the american media put soo much hype on tv about bad shit that happens in Mexico that he now believes it happens everywhere, all the time. While there, the security dept of the company I work for gave us a briefing for ex-pats. IIRC 99% of all kidnaps are on locals. Of the other 1%, 95% of those are people involved in the drug trade. That last tiny percentage are usually mistakes where people get freed very quickly, or you get taken to an ATM and forced to withdraw cash, then let go. jimmybro1

Interesting, and American mate has travelled a lot Europe, Asia etc. Meet on contikki in Europe after all. But it yes I noticed mericans don't travel when I visited there two years ago. Partly due to poor wages and lack of holidays. Ex GF came to NZ and that was a big deal for her. I I was going to do the resort thing but of course want to travel outside of that also. Why else would you visit another country! As for doing stupid shit I did my fair share of that in Amsterdam and Prague lol so bound to happen there! Cheers for the reponse. jimmybro1
19/01 Squats 120x5x8 SLDL 110x3x8 Leg press 5ppsx5x16 Laying hamstring curls 5x12 Basic workout but took about 2 hours because of long rest periods. Was really hot in gym and was sweating like crazy so was chopping back water between sets. Drank probably around 3-4 liters during the workout. Squats felt fast and tight. Lower back pump was ridiculous doing SLDL after squats so called it early on them was painful as f*ck never been like that before. Anyone had this issue? Know how to subside it?
