Movie making software

I've just started using VideoPad, there's a free version or you can buy the premium version. Just click on 'Download Now' instead of 'Purchase VideoPad.'

I don't really do much with it, but it's simple and easy to use for just cutting clips together and adding text for weight/reps, overlaying music etc. I haven't really experimented with the other features at all. Free and simple to use so I can't complain.

As a complete newbie I couldn't get anything out of those opensource apps for windows. I found Virtualdub on sourceforge and that has easy as cutting and cropping. Haven't yet tried playing with levels/curves nor adding text though.

For Mac - Final Cut Pro or X, (I find FCP excellent)

For PC - Adobe premiere

If you wanna get fancy AVID is good for both,

Depends what you wanna do really, Movie Maker and iMovie are fine but the above can save your ass if your looking to colour correct or the ISO / Iris was to low and your footage ended up being shot on low light. They can save your ass as you can bring the pic up to match other cuts etc. Also you can modify sound by adjusting wave forms etc.

AVID - Pro tools if you wanna get real flash for sound, sounds like a wank but its a big help. You can identify and cancell out freqs etc. An example would be if your interviewing a lifter and your getting a ton of BOOM rumble or a car alarm is going off in the back round you can minimise the effect of "unwanted sound"

Depends on which Operating system you run on your pc:

Bewlo are few examples:

XP- Windows movie maker

Win 7 & 8 - you could either use photogallery and movie maker which comes pre installed on most of the win 7 and 8 builds but if not its free to download off their website anyway. You could also use the original windows movie maker ( thats runs on xp ) on both win 7 and 8

For Mac: Its i-movie.

Hit me up if you need further info regarding video editing software for Linux, Ubuntu or any free bsd operating systems. Thanks
