Hi,

Reading through the women's section, not sure how recent some posts look to be.

but just looking for some recommendations for a trainer & nutritionist for INBA / NABBA Figure class.

ideally Auckland based or possibly online if they're good. But prefer someone who can do some face to faces but doesn't have to be all the time as my posing will need work.

	Cheers

My Mrs gave birth to twins ( we have 5 children ) 4 years ago, she was 115kg which was a shock as she had always been skinny.

She had never picked up a weight in her life.

The pic on the left was a year after that , she weighted 78 kg . The pic on the right is 6 weeks into her comp prep where she is on her way to competing in figure and physique - weight 69 kg.

	She has a 120 dead , 80 kg bench and a 100kg squat - not 1 rep maxes either.

Thought Id beef up the ladies section and show mutha fuckers what hard work looks like :)

Morning ladies I'm looking for a thyroid doctor who understands sports related issues and does full panel not just free tsh.

I've banged my head against a wall over the last couple of years despite having other symptoms and GP only doing the basic and insisting that's ok and all that's needed. Thanks

	Hi Ladies,

I have been training 6 days a week and eating less calories than I need for the past year.

I am definitely stronger and fitter but have not lost any bodyfat and have in fact gained weight.

Can anyone give any tried and true advice as to what is going wrong here?

	Feeling incredibly frustrated!

	Thanks

The US Marines is considering allowing women to bulk up so they can carry heavy loads more easily. They recently opened up all jobs to women - but those trying to gain strength for their new roles are finding the height-to-weight standards too restrictive.

According to height-and-weight standards published by the Marine Corps in 2008, the maximum weight for women who are 5-foot-3 is 141 pounds. Taller women are allowed to weigh more, with the weight limit set at 164 pounds for a woman who is 5-foot-8 and 184 for a woman who is 6 feet tall.

By comparison, male Marines are allowed to weigh more but must maintain a lower body fat composition. A man in the service is allowed to weigh up to 180 pounds at 5 foot 8, and up to 202 pounds at 6 feet tall.

That seems quite restrictive all round to me. I would barely scrape in, and I'm not that big. What about the rest of you lads and lasses?

Maccaz and I are in the process of setting up a squatting competition. The goal is to squat the most reps, with a weight that's relative to your bodyweight.

We reckon 1.5x bodyweight would be good for the guys. But we're not so sure about the ladies.
Hey,

So my GF runs. A lot. She usually runs at 5am for a couple hours before work on weekdays, 3 days a week. Lately the weather has been so shite that she's not managed to get out much. This has serious flow on effects to my personal mental well being.

I have offered to whip up a body weight circuit that she can do at home in the living room on cold wet and windy mornings (while I sleep in the room next door) so that she can still get some exercise, maybe gain a little strength and (most importantly) not get grumpy AF and take it out on me. She's keen to try it out.

So please give me some feedback and advice. I'm going for a whole body work out that she can do quietly. She has zero lifting or gym experience (apart from treadmills).

Everything is body weight unless otherwise noted

5 mins: Warm up - Jumping jacks (not sure if these will be too loud)

Continual repeated circuit consisting of:

- Squats with shoulder press using 1L bottles of water (ie 1kg each arm)

- Couch tricep dips

- Lunges with Bicep curls using the bottles of water

- Knee push ups or if not strong enough, standing wall push ups

- Plank

- Dumbbell row with bottles of water or a 2L bottle of milk

- Superman to strengthen the back

- Calf raises

- 'Scissors' for abs (where you lie on your back with hands behind head then touch elbow to opposite knee and vise versa)

Totally unsure of how many of each she'll cope with. I'll do a session with her to work that out.

Any advice or thoughts on the list? Good bad or ugly?

Hi all, Im new - again...I joined over 2 years ago and lost my motivation.

This time Im serious (hopefully) I joined Jetts gym about 3 weeks ago (well re-joined really) and after one session I realised that the way Jetts is set up is not the way I want to be working out. I am doing 5x5 and the machines at Jetts are not suitable for the program. I felt safe there in terms of security, but I was the only person working out on a saturday afternoon and felt unsafe with no-one around to help me if I wanted help with form etc...

So I cancelled my membership.... and joined a local gym with free weights, a squat rack, and helpful staff. Ive been going for about 2 weeks and I just completed my 6th 5x5 workout. I wanted to get into the program a bit and read the posts on here before asking for advice and help.

Im 38 years old and 170 cm. I currently weigh 74kgs. My goal is 65 kgs, but adding muscle I think will push that goal weight up. I do 5x5 every 2nd day and am doing cardio on the in between days. I had a bio-scan done at the gym when I started (ARGH! but Ive lost the readout) I think I was at 35-40% body fat ---- oh the shame, Im quite squidgy. My goal is fatloss and muscle building... Im currently working on my diet (I overeat the wrong foods) I am eating an apple before every meal - this helps me slow down and not eat as much, as well as filling me up first. Not an ideal diet, but Im trying.

What I want help with is a recommendation for a protein shake that I can have post workout. I had a Horleys Crossfire after my gym session today, which was OK, but Im just wondering if anyone could tell me a basic protein shake for a noob.
